Hello everyone
I've been lurking on this site for about 2 years and finally made the move to Tijuana. I just moved to Tijuana near UABC and still getting used to my surroundings.

I lost most of my money well all of my money to an ugly divorce and a bad lawyer so I could no longer afford to live in the states for the time being.

Here are my first time thoughts.
Tijuana at least in my eyes in not racist towards African Americans as rumored. Most of my friends begged me not to move down here and said I would be robbed or worse. I've been down here 3 months so far with no issues and come to find out there is a bunch of us down here smile.gif
When I cross the border I am greeted with some pleasantries from my fellow brothers and sisters.

Losing everything makes you very humble. I thank God that I am alive and not in jail. I now make just above minimum wage and counting my blessings if you can believe that.

It will be very hard for me to trust anyone again so I am just casually dating and I am meeting very nice people in TJ. I would have never been able to make this move without the website and your input
Thanks for having me smile.gif
Hi,
I appreciate your sharing about yourself. Hopefully you'll share more of your experiences as an African  American in TJ.

Yes, there are a lot of African Americans living in TJ. You will even ocassionally cross paths with Afromexicanos down here, most of whom migrated here from Guerrero and Veracruz. (My spouse is from Veracruz and is 1/8 Afro).  Although predominantly afro in appearance, most are mixed bloods with varing degrees of Mexican Indian and Spanish/European ancestry. They tend to identify culturally more with the Mexican mestizo mainstrain as opposed to having an afro-centric identity, and don't regard some things as racist that African Americans otherwise would.

I just recently learned that Mexico has an African presence, and that their are famous Mexican with an African heritage.
Mexico is more diverse that I had thought.
