Here's another unsubstantiated rumor: Calimax not paying employees their due so retaliation to make a point. Just fyi. In any case, very sad that a young man lost his life - whatever the "reason."

I just renewed my FM3 in Rosarito at a place called "Fast Track" they charged me $40.00 to do all the paperwork. I gave them my passport, my old FM3, copy of lease and phone bill and one bank statement. They did all the copies, translating , etc.  Paid fees there and picked up my FM3 3 weeks later. Was so nice and easy. No running around, no going to immigration itself, etc.  I highly recommend it.  Turn left where police station is and 2 blocks on the right side is their office. I will never do all the work myself again.
