Pampas do Brazil
4499 Sanchez Taboada
Zona Rio
011-52 (664) 686-3941

This is a Brazilian style place that serves meat roasted on a spit. It's all you can eat. The food is good (but rare meat isn't always available). It's also a fun place to eat.

I have eaten here many times. ALways a fun atmosphere and the food is quite good. I took my GF here last week and for her the cost was 16.50 and for me 18.50 for dinner. The steak cuts are very juicy and trhe chicken with melted cheese is to die for. The chorizo is kinda different and very tasty. I had a margarita with my meal and she had a few cokes and eveyrthing included tip was around 50 dollars.

They have Valet parking as well. Located right before La Espenada and TGIF.

Is hailing a taxi you might want to call it Pampas de Brazil and let them know it is right before Bar Javis

Rei Do Gado in the Gaslamp is far superior. The problem with Pampas is the slow service and packed atmosphere on weekends. The salad bar is sparse and the side dishes are few. Weekdays are decent, but weekends are not worth it. Overpriced IMHO.

Hi Maddog
thanks for your post. We value all members opinions on places in TJ. It helps them decide if this is a place for them or not.
A few years back we planned a fundraiser here and we had about 6 guys and the service we decent and that was on a saturday or sunday I believe. Last time I went was on a weekday and the place was packed.
The cost is a little expensive I agree.

i like this place. the service is good, and they come around often with the entrees. on the weekends, it is very crowded so it cannot be that overpriced. i do wish they had more of a selection of meats.
recommended.
I like to eat!

Hi fatboy
thanks for your post. I go every few months and enjoy the meat selection very much. I do notice they change meats or menus every so often.

I was only there once, about 3 years ago. They didn't have a menu then. They had a so-so salad bar and the waiters walked around with the meat selections. You were given a card that you put green side up when you wanted the waiters to offer you whatever meat they had (they said 17 varieties). Or red side up when you didn't want them to bother you. Some of the meats were delicious, some made me want to puke. All in all it seemed ok but not great and a bit overpriced. Haven't had the urge to go back.

Side note: I hate valet parking. I think I was with you Milky at male stripper night in Corona Hotel Bar. When the 2 guys returning my car came burning out around the corner it didn't give a warm fuzzy.

We go here maybe 3 times a year or so, we really enoy it here good food relaxed atmosphere decent price. I've eaten at other Brazillian restaurants in the states and would say it's as good or better at Pampas. I would highly recommend it to anyone who's a meat eater.

Sure Rei do Gado has a more authentic brazilian feel, but it also has a much larger price tag. I have never had problem with service at Pampas and the food has always been good. I will agree the salad bar is a little small, but I don't go for the salad.

When I ate at Rei de Gado in San Diego back several years ago, all the meats tasted very much alike. Turned out they were using the same seasonings on all the cuts. Haven't been back since. May have to try Pampas to see if they are in that same boat.

The funny thing about places in TJ they seem to change as the years go by. This has to be the most consistent restaurant in Tijuana. Great cuts of meat and all taste unique. I had Brazil buffet in Gaslamp for a company meeting and the food was about the same but double the price.

I love TJ!

That's funny because when I went here the meat was dry and tasteless. I've been to brazilian BBQ places all over the country and in Mexico this has to be second to last on the list for me... Rei di Gado is 10x better...Just my opinion...I went here once but would never go back. The service was good though....

I think that people who like this place must have a high opinion of beef jerky because every beef I tried tasted like it had been dryed in the sun....

Ask the waiter for rare meat. Otherwise you'll probably end up with meat that's well done.

How do you ask for meat cooking preferences in Mexico. In other words...

Rare = ?
Medium rare = ?
Well Done = ?

I can probably speak my way through it but does anyone know the exact terminology?
Bien preparado?
bien cocido?
Raro?
bien asado?
mucho cooko?

Wow, Beef Jerky? From people on both sides of the border I've talked to they all seem to enjoy it. I guess I go for the feel and experience of the place and imagine myself being a Brazilian in the outdoors grilling meats and having the meats on skewers coming by. Of course I wouldn't be worried about it being rare, medium, well etc.... It's a fun atmosphere. I guess you could always ask them to cut a raw piece of meat from the skewer specifically for you and have it done to order, but that would take the experience out of it. Here's a review I found on the following site: Iexplore

"Hands up to the quality, buffet, and service offered by Pampas do Brasil. I am a Brazilian and it truly reflects the real deal of the well known Brazilian barbecue. The taste of the meat is better than the Brazilian restaurants in San Diego. I highly recommend a visit to Tijuana to taste the real Brazilian barbecue. Way to go, Tijuana!!"

That site also reviews other locations here in Tijuana, It's pretty cool.
