Hi, I live in Southern California and part time in Playas de Tijuana. Hope to learn a bit more about Baja in this forum and share what I know as well.

Is that a spelling error in the last word?

No, no spelling error.

Hope you visit back at this forum after some of the comments made. I am straight female in a interracial relationship so I know about small minds. I have thought about moving to the playas too..except I am starting to wonder in getting away from some things ( in S cal) what I would be going to... ?
People eating Denny More stew calling it food, and making remarks

Agreed that Playas may be open minded than other parts. I have a transgendered friend who tells me Tijuana and Guadalajara where (s)he's from are the most open minded cities in Mexico. Anyway, welcome Tigre. The only group I am predjudiced against are politcians because they want to tell me how to live and I resent that.

Oddly enough I remember a chain of drive thru dairy stores named the purple cow. Does that date me or what.

Dawn,
In Baja, I have lived in Rosarito and now in Playas. Other areas I have lived in-land are Guadalajara and Cuernavaca. If you are considering a move to Playas I would say that it could be a good move. Depending if you need a house or an apartment the prices can vary.
The apartment I was in for a while was 2 bedrooms overlooking the beach for $400 a month. The neighbors were friendly and often would sit outside in the early evenings chatting. The place I am in now is 2 bedrooms but is a couple of blocks from the beach and is only $250, but is mostly in a neighborhood of homes so I have not met many neighbors since I am a part-timer. Best part about Playas is the amount of new building that is going on with stores, movie theater and other attractions.
There is no need for a car. You can get the bus to Tijuana Centro for 65 cents or take the Ruta taxi for a bit more. Even the Taxi Libre to Centro is only about $5. A bad thing about Playas is that there is only one road in and out. When a concert is going on at the bull ring or an accident occurs, get ready for a long wait with your car.

Tigre,
Where about in the Playas are you? I'm near the Mercados Emilia between Paseo Ensenada and Paseo Playas in one of those "houses" LOL. $500 a month for a two bedroom with a back yard, walled in.

The apartment is on Paseo Pedegral in the same building as Punto com, an internet cafe. It has been several weeks since I have been in town due to business travel and work in the LA area. Hoping to be in the area some time soon though!
