Last year I found phone numbers, I believe on this site, for updated wait times at the border (vehicle/sentri/pedestrian). They were SD #'s (619 area code), one for S.Y. and another for Otay. Well I fried the chip in my cell phone, lost all my numbers and now can't locate these #'s again. If anyone has these please post them, they come in very handy. Thanks.

Yea, I don't believe those news wait times either; they are usually always wrong and think underestimated. A "15 minute wait" at SY means it's an HOUR! An "hour wait' means two Hours!

The only thing I listen for on my trips to SD is if a trolley derailed or some police action right at the border.

These #'s are maintained by the Border Patrol and are fairly accurate, updated houly. I use them mostly for comparison purposes, helps me decide where to cross.

AM 600 and 1360 give border wait times with their traffic watch. You can choose if you want liberal or conservative viewpoints...

"Liberal or Conservative wait times" That one made me laugh out loud... I cant stand either of those morning shows on those two stations. 1700 AM gives you border wait time estimates in english and unbias news.. All the Spanish stations give you the number of vehicles in line (sentri, diamond, left, right) while all of the english speaking stations that provider border reports give you an estimated waittime.

richsinc, I have found the wait times on the radio to be OVER ESTIMATED... when 1700 or 94.1 says it's 15 minutes it's always five minutes and when they say it is an hour I typically wind up waiting only 30 minutes...

CHIQUITO... I take it you have SENTRI pass. or any body else can answer this. About how long does the application process take? How much is the cost? How long is your average wait on weekday mornings and weekends? Is it a vehicle or a person pass... In other words can I have guest in my car when crossing the SENTRI line. I still think a motorcycle is the way to go when living in Baja and working is SD county, but the girlfriend would never hop on the back of my YAMAHA.

Miggie: When I'm asked how I can stand the border wait, I put it this way...

If I leave the house at 8:00 a.m., I get my straight up news fix on 600AM until I get to the line. If I'm IN the line by 8:30 a.m., that means I can get the crazy news by Bill Handel on 640AM until 9:00a.m. as the line is the only place I can actually hear 640KFI (hooked on Bill Handel). If Rush Limbaugh comes on about the time I'm at the border agent, I can have a few moments of confirmation that the world really is going to crap but I will make it to work at a reasonable time.

9:00 across the border...15 minutes of 94.1...

Back to 600 on the way home with Dr. Laura...

Have you noticed the Sentri Lane taking longer? I usually cross 3-4 times per week and I always check the time when I get to the pedestrian bridge in line and when I actually cross. A year ago it was about 2-3 minutes from the bridge. 6 months ago it was 6-8 minutes. Today when I crossed it was almost 15 minutes. They used to just ask everyone if they had anything to declare and then just waved them through. Now I see them asking more questions and going through more cars. The other day the guy asked me to pop my hood which I had never done before in the Sentri lane. A neighbor of mine who has Sentri told me that the other day when she crossed the border the regular line on the right side at San Ysidro was about the same amount of cars as the Sentri line. The regular line actually moved faster than the Sentri that day. Go figure...

The Sentri Pass application for your car is now taking over 6 months but a friend of mine here short-cut the process early this year by applying for the pedestrian one first which only took about three months. When they called him in for his second appointment he submitted his car information and appliaction and was given it at the same time. Don't know if that loophole still works...

I applied in early Feb. In June I called them to see approx. how much more time I need to wait. They told me 8 months to one year more! So I guess I am I in limbo because of this new "streamlined" computer system. :x

We are going to Rosarito on Saturday for family reunion. We are spending the night and making our way back on Sunday. I am stressing as my son has to be at the airport in San Diego to make a 1230 flight. I was thinking of leaving Rosarito at around 7 am and getting in the far right lanes so if worst comes to worst we can walk across and catch a taxi to the airport. Does anyone have experience with Sunday morning wait times?

The lines pre 8am are not that bad on Sunday. They start to pile up after and you can expect a normal cross time of 3-4 hours after 9am.

My daughter always goes back Sunday mornings and tries to be in line between 6:00 and 6:30. She tells me that her typical wait is about 20 minutes. Her experience is that if she waits to cross until 8:00 it adds another 60 minutes or more.
