I like dive bars but I have not been to any of the ones on the list. I have walked by and heard stories about El Zacazonapan over the years. I would not venture in this bar unless you are into drugs or enjoy people who are doing them. But maybe some others on the board have first hand reports of hanging in here.

Hell, I haven't heard of any of those places besides La Mezcalera. I must be getting old.

I enjoy the new JB at El Patio bar, just down the alley from Hotel Nelson. Plenty of eclectic tunes, and cheap. $1 gets you 5 songs.
Always play CCR, Dylan and Tull at Ruben's bar on Calle Sexta. Even the nortenacentric cantineras' there dance the night away with me when I tune in some Seger.
And don't miss El Museo, where the JB next to the bar is maybe the cheapest in TJ, just $1 for 6 songs.
