Has anyone recently gotten DIsh Network from San Diego and installed in Tijuana? I have Dish in my San Diego house, and I could just order a new receiver for the existing account, and use it in Tijuana if I buy a dish antenna.
I recently had to replace a defective receiver in my house and had to call in to activate it. Does anybody know if the call has to be made from the phone on record for the account?

I just tried to order a new receiver from Dish and they refused to ship it to me. They will provide another receiver, but a technician has to come with it for installation on my "new TV" which isn't in the house (it's in TJ). I wonder if they're trying to prevent people from using these at addresses other than the one it was ordered for???

Did some on-line research. I guess this is called account stacking and was very common until Dish started cracking down on it. One person would setup service and get several receivers. Family (or friends) would each get one of the receivers the original account holder ordered and setup their own dish antenna to get free service at the other home(s).
My other option is to just set up a second account, but I think they would still refuse to send me the equipment without an installer coming out to install it. Other than actually going to the trouble of connecting all the equipment up at a San Diego address and then taking it to TJ, I don't see how people are getting Dish or (DirectTV) installed in TJ.

we did it just that way.. there maybe another but we had to set it up in the yard of a house in San Diego, the intaller didn't seem to care he got paid per install so to do it in the yard saved him time.
We had problems and got the update in Mexico from a mexican phone without any problems. But in truth all the Cable and Direct TV are way over priced

When I moved to TJ over 3 years ago. I looked in the TJ paper for satelite service. I did not want to enter into a contract for satelite service since I did not want to sign a 2 year contract. I found a guy and I would pay the guy $300 bucks for 6 months of service without a contract. He setup satelites in San Diego and LA and had the people get the extra recievers for the $1 then he would bring them to TJ and do the setups. I did this for about one year or more but I got feed up because you are at the mercy of the person in the US to pay for the service. The guy had to keep swapping out recievers on me. After doing this 4 or 5 times I just setup service in my name. Since I had the dish and reciever already they just sent me a smartcard and they have no idea that I am in TJ. The only problem is I had satelite issues when the dish had to be re-aligned. I went thru about 3 people trying to find someone in TJ who knew what they were doing.

Check this out just find your house or lot on google maps, and then the Satellite your using and bingo worked better than the guy charging money!
