I am moving to Tijuana around 16 June and I am concerned about my commute without a car into San Diego. More specifically, my commute from my ends of Tijuana to the border...
My job starts at 8:00 AM and I will be taking public transportation from Colonia Tomas Aquino, walking across the border into the USA, and taking the trolley to work (thank god i only have to walk a few blocks from the blue line stop to my job...)
Just wondering if anybody has any input or information on how to get from Tomas Aquino to the border WITHOUT paying for an expensive taxi? 5 dollars is not too expensive, but I'd prefer to pay only like 8 pesos.
Do the buses run at this time of morning? I would probably be leaving my home in Tomas Aquino at about 5:30 or 6 AM to be on Market Street in San Diego at 8 AM. Do you think this gives me enough time to get to work, provided that I walk across the border?

I hope you have Sentri!!!!!!
I live about 10 minutes walking distance from the border, I have Sentri and I take the trolley to civic center. My morning commute is one hour........15 minutes of walking and 45 minutes on the trolley.

No sentri. I got a criminal record and misdemeanors will even keep one from getting sentri. Do you know anything about the bus schedule in tijuana? I frequently check the wait time for the pedestrian line around 5 am and 6 am and usually the wait is said to be like 20 or 30 minutes. Hm.

I live in Tomas Aquino near the Instituto Tecnologico. The weekday buses start around 5:00-5:30PM. The bus line says "Plaza Rio" and/or "Linea" which takes you directly to the border. The buses usually stop around 9:00pm so at that point you need to take the taxi.
If you are going across the border on Saturdays or Sundays you have to take a shuttle bus from the border to the trolley station due to construction which I've been told will be another year.

bump!did you mean to say 5:30am,not pm?i assume so...how much does the bus cost,compared to a taxi?its only a weekday commute........yeah my job offer was postponed until sept,i had family court drama to deal with.

Don't quote me, but I think buses start at 14 pesos.

I'll set the record straight.... I took the big blue bus from the taxi area right after the border turnstyles, to centro..... it cost 8 pesos. From Centro to Playas...8 pesos....and from Playas back to centro....8 pesos. Seems like 8 pesos is the standard fare.

How long did it take you to get from the border to playas?
