Has anyone lived in the Playas and do you consider it "safe".
I was thinking of moving closer to the beach but a new tenant in my complex moved out of there (after 1 year) as he had burglaries several times. He said many Cartel employees live there and scope places to steal stuff and that neighbors don't watch out for anyone.

The closer to the beach in Playas the more dangerous it gets, Most everyone gets robbed, ice, crystal is the drug of choice.
If you don't have someone to watch your house full time, live in guard, you will, get robbed. NOT IF BUT WHEN!
In a country that pays a minimum wage that is lower than a phone bill with internet, the new min wage increase works out to less than 5.00 dollars a day. or 25 a week or 1300 a year.
We don't like to talk about it in this, blog, but:
Is it a surprise that a beautiful, young lady will share a 1/2 hr intimately with someone for two weeks wages?
Is it a surprise that a young man may take your TV, your car, or life.
Is it a surprise, that when a country
Archbishop Calls to review wage increases
That has more to do with the failed state,(GOVERNMENT) than most people understand.
example:
1. no one is surprised when they discover a crooked cop?
2. less than one percent of the killing leads to a arrest let alone a conviction that sticks.
3. people including the president like to blame it on the drugs (what makes it OK to kill anyone)
4. Army for police work has never worked in the history of man kind (at least from what info I can find)
But Playas is nice!
But just like all of Mexico, watch you back.

I lived in Playas for a short time in early 2005. I rented a house in Cornado. Most nice houses have walls around them. Mine only had a fence. Never had any problems. Playas was nice but I am not really a beach person and the traffic going to/from Playas is a pain. I like living in zona rio much better. Walking distance from pretty much everything.
