Its unlimited data and no contract. The cost of the unit is a bit steep at $150 but unlimited data at $40 is cheap and we all know that Telnor and Cablemas is overpriced and not that reliable. Virgin uses Sprint's 3g network and sprint's network works strong in quite a few regions of Tijuana which means you could have a wifi system in your apartment for peanuts. I realize many of you live in Otay or Playas and you will not likely be able to use this service.

Have you actually used the service in Tijuana and found decent reception?
A previous post said Cricket Wireless's Wifi service did not get sufficient reception in Tijuana. I have used their phone service, however, and it gets decent reception in many areas.

I think it depends where you are at. If you are on a 3rd floor or above in most parts of Cacho, Chapu and Centro, you will be ok. I have always received perfect service on a 3g network from Sprint in Chapultepec, Centro, Zona Norte, Zona Rio and parts of Playas close to the border. Thinking of trying this but the $150 for the device is a bit much.

Great info about that Virgin service, expensive though, right now I am using a 30 day free trial "Overdrive" hotspot from Sprint and it works like a charm, but it will go back to Sprint, if i keep it costs $100 plus $59 a month, almost everyday I log on to Sprint to make sure there are no roaming charges, I live in Cacho so Sprint works fine.
There are times when you try to log onto a website and it says it does not work for Mexico, with a U.S. service that gets fixed!
