Hey there!
I was referred to this site by another site, and am planning on making the move to TJ August 1st-ish. I plan on living south of the border for about a year or so to save money for a down payment on a home here in San Diego, although I will (naturally) be keeping my job here in the city! So yep, I'm here to read every thread in the "Living in TJ" section for moving advice, utility/cable advice, transit advice, and "not getting my shit jacked" advice.
So far everything I read is excellent. Love the site!

More like a few weeks to a month.
Pat apply for your Sentri card now if you do not have it already. It will cut down on some of the headache crossing into SD but does not help you going back to TJ. If you can't get a Sentri pass then your next bet is to get a motorcycle. My second suggestion is to live in a place where you feel combfortable. Third is start learning Spanish it will only help you.
I live in zona rio and commute to downtown SD 5 days a week so if you have any questions fire away. I have been living in TJ since X-mas 2009.
TJ is what you make of it. So far I have enjoyed my time here and have no real plans of leaving anytime soon.
If you want to hang out once you are settled in let me know.
