Anyone know a good place to get a car detailed? Mine is in need of a little love. I figured it would have to be cheaper to be done in TJ.

Just got mine detailed today!!! For $295 pesos -$15% (since I am a member of this carwash I paid $250) my car was detailed, upholstery and carpet washed! It looks HOT now, lol!!! It is called Aqua Tunel it is more on the East side of TJ, right on Blvd. Bernardo O´higgins know as Benton and Blvd. Diaz Ordaz (on the corner)! Awesome job for low prices! They have I believe 5 different detail options ranging from $195-$495, SUV´s $100 extra (all prices in pesos). Check them out, I use to pay up to $60 dlls. to have my car detailed!

That price is amazing. When you say "detailed" what are we talking about? I am looking for a full clay bar, polish, wax job. I was quoted $300us at a carwash in San Diego.

Yes, they do offer wax jobs. I didn´t get it b/c I really just needed the interior cleaned (imagine I have two girls under 5). I believe they charge $495 pesos. It includes interior cleaning (upholstery, roof and carpet), polish/wax I don´t remember exactly, maybe both and then regular carwash with armor all. It is a great deal and they do a great job! If you decide to go I recommend you purchase the member card for $100 pesos, you will get a free carwash, 15% off on detail jobs, free massage chairs (members only), free coffee (7 a.m-10 a.m), a Gusher card for 32% discount on all purchases (take a passport picture), and the card gives you discounts at about 15-20 restaurants and business in Tijuana, the ones I can remember are Burger King, Applebees, Sukiyaki and Peter Piper Pizza. I will find phone number and I will post it so you can give them a call.

Thanks for all the info Yvette. I don't really want a phone number. What would be helpful is a map. I tried to look on google to find where you are talking about.

Yes, they do offer wax jobs.

Waxing & polishing are entirely differen't. Professional detailing involves polishing, not just hiding the scratches with wax that will just wear off after 3-4 weeks.

Are there any reputable detailers in TJ?

Keep in mind, simply slapping wax on the finish is not the same as professional detailing.

I went here today! Saw the great review and decided to check it out. Car came out beautiful. It cost $40 for the most complete package. We had to leave the car there for 4 hours buy my hubby and i passed the time walking around 5 & 10 and I got a pedicure for $15. All on all a great day and my car looks new! Thanks for the post smile.gif

I would recommend Sharky's car wash on Blvd. Salinas (Agua Caliente). About 2 blocks east of Rodeo restaurant on the same side of the road.

They may not be as cheap as some of the smaller independent places, but they are reputable. The offer several levels of detailing packages from $40 - $80 or so. If you are planning to get your car detailed, be sure to be there prior to 10am. They will have your car for most of the day.

I just thought of something, if you get your car all shiny and "bling bling", wouldn't it be more prone to getting jacked? Usually, "bling bling" attracts attention.

Tijuana is so dusty. By the time you wash your car in a few hours it looks dirty again. I don't even bothering washing my car anymore.

LOL. True. I was my car myself every weekend in the afternoon so i dont get dry spots in the paint. But come Monday afternoon it's dusty, and then it doesn't help that everytime you stop at a traffic light some guy wants to wipe it down......

I'm not referring to washing, but polishing. Polishing consists of some type of abrassive, whether it be a very fine and gentle polish, or a more aggressive compound for removing heavier defects. I've seen plenty of shiny cars during my visits in Tijuana. I'm from Northern California, and we have dust too. Los Angeles is built on a desert. The farther inland you go, the hotter and dryer it gets, thus more dust. That doesn't mean that nobody cares for their cars does it tongue.gif

There are plenty of talented detailers all over. There are people that have cars with straight body's and nice paint that are willing to pay for the service of a talented paint care professional. Where I live, (45 minutes north of San Francisco) depending on the time of year, after I wash my car, it can be covered in dust within 1-2 days. This time of the year, there is a lot of pollen. I washed my car a week ago, and within two days, the top of my car had a thick orange layer. It had rained a bit a day after I washed it, so the stuff was caked on.

Where you live and drive your car dictates how dusty/dirty it gets, and how quickly. If you live on a dirt road, your car will get dusty, end of story. It doesn't matter where you live, the geographical area is irrelevant. When I, or a professional detailer talks about polishing, I'm not talking about simply washing a car, I'm referring to the removal of fine scratches and swirls, and ultimately creating a beautiful, brilliant, swirl free, deep shine. Polishing the paint also removes the oxidation. The final step would be waxing the finish. Putting wax on the finish will help prevent future oxidation and resist UV rays, thus prolonging the life of the paintwork.

It doesn't matter how old or how new a car is, if it looks bling bling, it will attract attention. What I was getting at in my previous post, if you have a nice looking automobile that is finely polished, wouldn't it be more likely to get jacked???

peace
Tony
