I needed some brake work done and read a post about a place in tj. The place seemed to specialize in only brake work. There didnt seem to be any mechanics in the place. After I told them what I needed done they sent away for someone. The "mechanic" looked like he just climbed out of a cardboard box. By the time I got home in san diego I had completely lost my brakes. I was lucky to have made it that far. Apparently the mechanic didnt bleed the brakes right or he had left something loose. Another time I took my truck to get smogged and they told me the exhaust piping had to be replaced. The cost here was $100. I took it too a shop in TJ I had seen in the past . They did the work for $35

Where is it and are you sure that is the name? Bendix is a brand of brake pads and parts. A lot of autoshops that do brakes have signs etc that say Bendix even though that is not the name of the shop. I've had my work done at a place on Pacifico in Playas and it's always worked out good. I supply the parts and they do the work for about 1/5 of what ia US place quotes.

Had a bad repair experience this morning in Playas. Went to have timming checked and could barely make it 8 blocks home. It was mechanical so reference here is limited to timming ( YMMV ). Understand they do other things and no reference here to that.

Saake Multiservicios, 688 Paseo Pedregal, Playas Baja, MX

Knew something was amuck when mechanic would not take a $ 20 bill for work he did do even though problem was not corrected. Offered 3 times and refused 3 times. Never heard of such a thing.

So guess I will buy a timming light and see what other damage is done. Refusal of $ has me wondering.

Don't know where I would put a belt , guess I could store it in the trunk.

This veh has a timming chain, looks similar to a bicycle chain. Needed to be timed thats all. Have a light but it's no good down here if it's in the states. Just thought rather then buying another light I would put the money into the local economy; bad choice. Thanks anyway..

Timing chain/Belt for valve timing. Distributor adjusts ignition timing. Different things. Most newer cars don't have manually adjustable ignition timing.

Yes, that is correct to a degree(*), rotating the positioning of distributor adjust the engine timming. In my case its a 77 so have no need for a belt as my trunk is already full.

Really not hard to set timming if you know what end of a wrench to pick up and have a light. Asked mechanico for 8*BTDC what I got remains to be seen until I get a light. Guarrantee it's not what was requested had it been he certainly would have taken the money. Wonder what else was done that I did not ask for. That I guess will find out manana when I get into it.

I live close by to this place...it's more of a tune up joint than general mechanic. There are plenty of good mechanics in Playas.

Shop was referred to me by someone who said he was really good.

They claim to do much more, suspension, brakes, tires, engine repair have signs hanging inside and one brake job was going on at time I was there.

Very clean and organized which is usually a good indication of the finished work. From the outside it reminded me of a quick change oil & lube chain shops north of the border.

I had an engine oil leak once and I decided to take it to this place. They ackowledged what the problem was but said they do not perform that kind of work???

Maybe it more than a quick lube joint... maybe more like a Midas or WalMart car service.

Oil leak can be any where from moderated to major repair. To time an engine was part of a tune up ( if mechanic felt a need ) back before ECM made it white elephant.
