angry:

Hi,
Anyone out there know any "laws" regarding how to handle a barking dog problem? Is there animal control or someone I can call to file a complaint? I live in Rosarito, have been here for approximately 3 months. The problem is that the dog barks almost non-stop, all hours of the day and night. I have talked to the landlady about it and she says she doesn't "hear the dog barking" so that put and end to that right there. I don't want to start a war with her on this matter, nor do I want to harm the dog in any way, but I need a solution. Anyone out there can help, I sure would appreciate it.

Thanks...I'm going to give that a try

Welll hummmm I have had to use ear plugs as my ex-husband snored so loud, it could shake the walls. I cannot sleep with those things in my ears. I like the other person's reply...using an airhorn, but thanks for the reply
Have a good day cool.gif

My response to this might be expected considering I spend a great deal of time working towards ending the dog over-population here in Rosarito.

Dogs bark. A majority of them who "live" here are doing what they were acquired to do - bark. Of course, it's annoying and there are no laws to prevent it. You'd likely just get yourself into a whole bunch of hot water if you even tried to end the problem by alerting the authorities who would probably just laugh at you.

Your best bet, especially if you've exhausted all reasonable inquiries, is to buy one of the many gadgets on the market that will annoy the dog but not people. I have a small remote I use which emits a very shrill sound that is ultra-sensitive to a dog's ears. It cannot be heard by humans, does not do damage to the dog, and should discourage constant barking.

Good luck.

Most folks here use a Dog as there alarm and Dogs bark get over it. You choose to live in a place you have to live with the culture not bring yours here and expect them to comply. Its a part of living in Mexico everyone has a Dog and they Bark and get ready to listen to loud Music once in awhile as well

A guy that lives a few houses away got one of those little 2 pound dogs who barked louder than a Leer Jet. The little guy wouldn't stop barking. Luckily it was a few houses from me but he was so loud I thought it was the very next house over.

All of the sudden the barking stopped. His neighbor "politely" told him if he didn't shut the dog up or keep him inside he would take care of the noise himself. The dog is now an indoor pet smile.gif

We used to have a really loud dog that my next door neighbor took in as a stray. He wouldn't stop barking and animal control came and asked if the dog was theirs they said no and they took him away.

Just want to caution you all - if any animal control agency does remove a dog, it will be killed - likely electrocuted. Not something I would want on my conscience. sad.gif

Not to worry RG , there is no animal control in Tijuana.

For the most part dogs are free to be what they are , animals... Problem is treatment from their owners is worse than emminent death at the hand of the
" big bad dog catcher " Must ask RG have you ever been to any colonies east Centro where some women and small children fear aggressive packs ?

Spent some time here and only once have I seen an animal control authority intervene in agressive dog packs , barking , etc ; , muchless uncontrolable dawgs within an owners confined property . Animal control does not exist. The one time mentioned was at a beach front condo project where in Packs of dogs ran wild threatening children , females and others. Every once in a while the ( dreaded ) Dog Catcher would show up in his broken down pick up truck and send two broken down individuals out to locate the culprets . Naturally, the dogs were long gone but what was most interesting in seeing was these individuals were using lairiates( sp ) .

Are dogs miss used , out of control , interbread and just plain shit on ; Yes, , this is a 3rd world country
