Zona Rio, Tijuana B.C.

Dr. Mendiola is an oral surgeon who also does general denitsty. He speaks English very well. I've been very happy with both his work and his prices.

Daniel, do you know what his prices are for a general checkup? And maybe an x-ray?

I saw him yesterday, he did not charge for the visit or xrays.

So far I'm very impressed. He found an infection UNDER my tooth requires surgery that I scheduled for week after next since I have to take antibiotics before I have the work done. My husband asked him how much the surgery will cost and Dr. Mendiola replied "$500". I would gladly pay $500 to fix this painful problem, but then Dr. Mendiola said "just kidding, its really $60!!!!! laugh.gif

The address is above. Plaza Fiesta is at the south west corner of the glorieta (traffic circle) at Avenida Independencia and Paseo de los Heroes. Directly across the street of the north end of Plaza Rio mall. If you cross the border and go over the bridge, stay to the right and it will become Paseo de los Heores. The first glorieta you come to is the one.

I don't think he accepts insurance, at least not when I was there in March. Dr. Beltran at Baja Dental group does.

Very reasonable - I believe comparable to Dr. Mendiola. I was referred to Dr. Mendiola because he is an oral surgeon. I think they all work together, Dr. Mendiola, Dr. Beltran, Dra. Lopez, the endodontist and Dra Pizarro, the periodontist. I don't know why they are all not set up to take insurance.

If you wouldnt' mind, please give me the e-mail to Dr. Mendiola, or any other good periodontist. I live in the U.S. and need to have gum flap surgery. I also need 2 teeth removed and to get a partial. I also need to have 6 crowns replaced. Also, I found on the Internet the name of a periodontist, Dr. Tamez, but I can't find an e-mail for her. The e-mail provided on the Baja Dental Group doesn't work. I keep getting it returned to me. sad.gif If you have a different e-mail for Baja Dental Group, please give me that one.

Thanks much!!!

Here it is: pizarro@bajadentalgroup.com. I'll check at noon when I go home to see if it's still current - she just sent me a "gentle reminder" postcard. laugh.gif

My husband and I went to see him after finding this great review on this blog. He was fantastic. We both had teeth cleanings $30 each and he did a great job. Clean office, nice assistant, great service. But he is very busy so to schedule an appointment can be tough. That to me is a sign of a great dentist. He does speak english but as I speak Spanish I didnt get to hear much of it. I also had broken my tooth on a corn nut (back molar) and he reapired it (took an x ray) and the cost was $40. I am a happy pacient who will definately return to see Dr Mendiola again. PS- office is located in Plaza del zapato near the De Volada coffee shop. Go up the blue staircase and office door is on the left. Go and see him if you need a good dentist!

I have nothing but good things to say about Dr. Mendiola. The only conflict I've ever had with him is his refusal to take more money for his more than well-earned services. His manner is professional and caring. His english is excellent. His work is superb. As Julie said, however, he is very busy so book well in advance.

I went to Dr. Mendiola when my bridge (from long ago auto accident, one tooth, two anchor teeth) simply fell out! He charged $20 for the examination which included a couple of xrays. I thought I was going to need a new bridge because one of the 3 teeth (2 were anchors on on each side of a missing tooth) for the bridge had broken off) but he was able to re use the bridge saving me $300. He recommended a root canal before reinserting the bridge and recommended Dr. Claudia Lopes Alvarez (across the street behind the cultural center). She charged $170. Did the root canal in 35 minutes start to finish.......latest "equipment" including digital xrays which enabled her to work quikly.

Her English is somewhat limited but AMY her assistant speaks perfect English. She doesn't have Dr. Mendiola's "sparkling" personality but very professional.

BOTH ARE GREAT!

If I haven't posted about Dra. Claudia Lopez A, who specializes in root canals, I should have. As stated above, she's good. Very good.

As stated, her English is limited, but I think sufficient to work on a non-Spanish speaking patient. As also stated, her assistant speaks excellent English.

Here's her contact information:

Dra. Claudia Lopez A.
Ixalia Building Suite 507
Javier Mina 1571
Zona Rio CP 22320
Tijuana, BC, Mexico
(011-52) 664-684-1763

Javier Mina is across the street on the north side of Cultural Center. The Ixpalia building is between Paseo de los Heroes and the Via Rapida, close the (north) parking lot for the Cultural Center.

Sadly, I've needed a couple of root canals this year (2011). She's charged me--depending on the complexity of what is needed--between $160.00 and $200.00 per root canal.

Dr. Mendiola has charged me $225.00 per crown.
