I am shocked and saddened. Will some of them that are franchises stay open or did I misread that? If there are any still opene I plan on going for a burger and beer before they close.

BTW, not ALL of the Boll Weevil's are closing. Evidently, it is the company, but not the franchises, that is closing.

The one on Clairemont Mesa was a usual Monday lunch place for me to nurse a full weekend of partying back to some semblence of normal. As it is a franchise, I believe it still is open.

Their burgers were never special; nothing to be FedEx'd to anyone. But the pickles and Michaloebs did help cure me. ohmy.gif

Islands is the best place for burgers in San Diego, The problem with Boll Wievel is they never updated the menu. Nothing exciting.

Some of the TV guys got together and tried several places for burgers and their #1 was the Waterfront, Hodad's also rated highly. I don't think Islands made the eat-off. I have a Burger Lounge within a block of me and it is very good as is In n Out. Your taste usually depends on what you grew up eating and liking. I always liked Boll Weevil for a routine eat.

All this talk about Boll Weevil gave me a craving for a burger. I broke down and had a Carl Jr $6 burger.

Sure seems to me that Carl's is way over priced. I have not been to one in years and was never impressed by them at all.

Last Monday a neighbor was going near Centro and I asked about burgers; He said Carl's, I offered to buy 3 and told me like $15-18 and I said no thanks! Do they have a Kid's menu like Wendy's where cheese bacon burgers and baked potato (potatoe, if you are Dan Qualye) for a buck each?

Guess there are not any Wendy's in TJ either sad.gif But with this hamburger talk, I'll have to defrost a Jack/Box sourdough swiss bacon burger for dinner. Yes, I have them shipped? in as well as Gino's East Pizza from Chicago.

What am I supposed to do? Eat tacos??? And lentil soup??? I'd shrink! Which brings up a puzzle of mine. I don't understand why a lot of local women are so heavy/wide in the butt. Yea, I saw that among German and Polish older women in Chicago but they eat heavy foods and hibernate.

Answer another puzzle of mine. Why is it that when walking down the street ANYWHERE, it is always a fat person eating on the sidewalk??? Like, what came first the fat or the eating?

Up in Gunnison, CO - we called this GBD - Gunnison Butt Disease. Happens where ever there are well-fed sedentary people. A better question would be, how come it is always the obese who have the largest (and the most) plates at an all-you-can-eat place?

As far as you shrinking, unless you are six foot thirteen and 150 pounds, why should we worry about you shrinking?

Do I need a new ruler? I thought there were only 12 inches to a foot... huh.gif

Worry ‘bout me? I know you love me and care... rolleyes.gif dry.gif mellow.gif unsure.gif angry.gif blink.gif huh.gif :lol ohmy.gif sad.gif oops ran out of smileys...

The little Sigmund Freud in me says that you are jealous that other people have more plates than you do and they are eating your food that you paid for...??? And I thought I was flint-scape/cheap skate.

Eat your cottage cheese and pickled beets and be quiet while they eat your pasta, lasagna and fudge cake and they will be in the ER b'for ya.

A bit of children's humor - six foot thirteen. Sorry it passed overhead. wink.gif

Evidently, I got your goat and ate it too, in burritos, tacos, birria and the like. laugh.gif

Speaking of Carl's before, why is their steak burger commercial always on my TV?

Not being female, especially the blonde variety, Carl's ad still does offend and I am wondering why woman's groups have not objected.

The ad is the one with the blonde girl dressed up to go out to a steak dinner and the slob couch potato guy says that they are; Carl's Jr. Get a clue, Carl's is not Delmonico's(NY). Ballantine's(Chgo), etc. I don't think I will ever go to a Carl's again.

Makeds me think only self-centered schmucks go to Carl's.

Damn! I am really going to miss BW. I grew up going there and went to our local one about once a month. The menu was basic but if you wanted a giant cheeseburger it was the best. The thing with BW is that the quality of food and service really varied, but the one in La Mesa was always great, good people too. Hope they all get good jobs, not the best time for this though.

NOT ALL BOLL WEEVILS are closing, folks. Only the corporate ones. The franchises seem to be okay.
