Do you need to have insurance to go there? Or can one just walk in? Because we have no insurance. (not in mexico) Thanks for the recommendation.

Cash is fine and widely accepted in Mexico smile.gif

The operators, secretaries here are not the brightest so make sure you know what type of doctor you need to see before hand, they all have extensions they can forward you too.

Hospital Angeles is definitely considered the best in town. cool.gif

Locals consider it expensive but its still 50% the price of San Diego Medical Centers.

Awesome, thanx for the advice guys, i really appreciate it. I mean, i see doctors office all over TJ. But i never actually been to one. And i was looking over the hospitals' web page, and it looks good. Looks like they got good services and the technology

And yes of course cash is accepted all over Mexico. But i wasn't sure about this. You know how it is in the U.S. You have to be a memer to step in certain locations. Just wanted to make sure.

Do you have to call to make an appointment or can you just walk in? I know these questions are common sense answers, but... unsure.gif

Thanx again guys....

I also would say Angeles, I used it a few times, I was charged about $40 us $450 mex/visit. Not too bad. I liked the doctor but they kept wanting me to go for check-ups every week and sent me over to a dietician for a special diet which also was about $40/visit. I understand they all have to make a living. I stopped not because I didn't like it but I usually go only if im dying. I went for a physical and was told I was a bit overweight and B.P. was a bit high and my cholestorel was a bit high also. I was a size 36 now im a 34 waist i did lose some weight but Im not some rich dude who needs a diet doctor. It was nice though to feel important for a few months and have someone sit with you and go over your diet and your weight loss progress and show you graphs and stuff. im sure stateside that would have cost a nice little bit. I actually felt bad not going cuz I liked both Doc's. Im considering the Simnsa network docs and hospitals. They have some type of membership for $75/ year and office visits are like $15 or so. They also have Dentist's, Labs and pharmacy. They're in the old LLoyd's building by the san ysidro crossing, next to the Hospital Mexico. Has anyone used them at all? Any Experiance? Good or Bad

Just to bring you guys up on the doctor info. So i have been taking my wife to Hospital Angeles. Happy with their service. The office visits are $35 bucks. The laboratory fees do change, anywhere from $50-$70. Reasonable prices. When we first walked in we were like "this place looks expensive". But we do like their services. So far so good. Ohh and the pregnacy is gooing good too. It's going to be a boy....

They closed down a lot of plastic surgey hospitals this summer. I think someone died and they did an investigation and found a lot of them to be in violation.

I read that only 30% of the plastic surgeons in the US are considered good. Being a fast growning, high paying speciality it attracts a lot of low quality physicians.

Research the doctor before getting that face lift. wink.gif

I have used Hospital Angeles (Dr Jimenez) for Ear , nose , thoat. He is an excellent, caring doctor. Office visits were $40.
I love that Hospital, the International Patients coordinator gave me the grand tour. Im afraid I wouldnt be able to stay there long term tho. It would get pricey without insurance.
Which brings me to my question.
Does anyone actually have a private MX health insurance plan? Have you used it for procedures and hospital stays??
Has anyone ever billed their US Insurance for Mexican health care? Has anyone ever used the IMSS system? I hear a lot of talk about it but Ive never read a first hand account of its merits.
I noticed a IMSS hospital over in Soler, I may ask for a tour of that place. Anyone know where the IMSS hospital is in Zona Rio or Centro?

Just a side thought for all you expats (Im soon to be one too). What does anyone think about ObamaCare and his plan to FINE any US citizen who doesnt have US health insurance?? I heard that the house version made an exemption for expats but ive heard conflicting reports about the senate version. Anyone care to chime in on this? Personally Im freekin tired of paying big bucks and being treated like cattle. Ive taken good care of myself and dont want to pay for fat, tobacco addicted, welfare sucking fools on the other side. Ill take my chances with mexican health care and do quite well thank you!
