I know this was discussed in the Pemex thread but I wanted to take a bit deeper. "Experts" are predicting gas prices will rise to 5 dollars and will stay around the 4.50 to 5 dollar mark for years to come. I personally know 3 people that have traded in their trucks and have taken losses and has bought smaller cars to ease the price at the pump. One girl I know is paying over $400.00 a month on gas. That's insane think back about a decade ago and that rent for most people.
More people are taking public transportation, carpooling or biking. Right now I live about 2-3 miles from work so I can bike it or walk and I am paying around 50 to60 dollars a month on gas.

Where are we going from here? Most of these electric hybrid cars are overpriced to the point that you won't see a cost difference for at least 2 years between gas and electric.

The diesel crisis is real, I can't believe our truckers are paying over 5 dollars a gallon!!!!
How do you think we get most of the products we by? I see all of our prices going up.
Heck A gallon of Milk is now 5 to 6 dollars!!! I'm going to start pinching pennies smile.gif

Check out this guy Mr Vegatable oil man
2k to convert his car
Tijuana is much more than Revolution ave

I ride my motorcycle more and more... I only use the car to go to the store and back.

Luckily San Diego is ideal for motorcycle riding almost year round... obviously this is not an option for colder or wetter climates.

I don't understand how the price of a barrel of oil affects the price of a gallon of gasoline. The price of gasoline in san diego has gone down recently.

The majority of people who bought homes in Temecula and surrounding area have to make long commutes to work. Many are trying to keep up by paying for gas with credit cards in the hope they can pay off the cards later. Home values in these area is taking a nose dive as people don't want to buy there and make the long commutes.

Actually the price of gas has only gone up $1.50 in the past year. Imagine the hardships if it just went up another dollar.

On the positive side there is less traffic to deal with.

The economy is gonna get a lot worse. The effect will be felt greater in Tijuana than in San Diego.

People are gonna continue driving. They will just spend less at the malls, restaurants, etc. Malls will have many more vacancies as businesses can't pay the rent.

I do not believe there is a shortage of oil. Countries, people, that hold large amounts of dollars are using these dollars to buy up oil, causing the price to go up.

Gas has gone down but looks like in will never return to the 1 dollar gas we were used to for decades.

I just got back from the east coast where I was paying a little over $3 a gallon. I heard some stations were selling a gallon for just under $3. Saved me some money since I put about 1500 miles on a large rented SUV.

Gas is currently in the $3.20s in my neighborhoods. It should drop lower as it has fallen below $70/bbl. I've been hypermiling since before there was a name for it.

It has gotten down to $3 only because the economy turned sour.

In fact, I did trade in my Isuzu Trooper when oil hit $80 about four years ago. I figured... $300 a month, why not get a brand new Audi 1.8T? I'd pay the same amount of money. The Audi got 32 mpg while the Trooper got 12.
