This has nothing to do with Tijuana but I can not find any help and I have tried. Somehow we hit something on one of those things that pops up offering anti virus proctection. Anit Virus 2008. I can not get it off. It says its a trial but I thought I was getting it off by clicking the x no go and now it will not let me on some sites and keeps popping up all the time. I do not know alot about this I have tried to unistall it and it says it was but then its back. Any help...more than glad to try.

I suggest doing some Google searches. Is it "Anit Virus 2008" or "AnitVirus 2008" or "XP ANIT-VIRUS 2008"
or whichever possible variations which can then find you some info.
Also you might search some tech forum (like Techrepublic) or join one to post questions for help.

When push comes to shove, you might do a system restore (which I normally try to avoid).
And lastly, there is also a hard disk reformat which requires some prep work.

Good luck.

Its antivirus 2008. I did a system restore still did not work. I tried looking on the web beut they just wanted me to download other programs they say will get rid of this one. So darn annoying. Everytime I open something it asks me if I want to contiune on unprotected or not. Then I have to click it and it moves me on to the web page. But again there are some that it will not let me access that I have always been able to.

Good luck often the free stop virus "freeeeeee" are just a virus
The only ones that I know of that can be trusted that I know of there are others I am sure which ones ,I don't have time to test.

symantec commerical
Some of the free stop popup or scan for malware are just that you install mallware.
NO SCANNER PROTECTS YOU FROM A ZERO DAY VIRUS.
SO USE firefox

If you are not using firefox start and install the plugin/addin noscript,
it is the only protection against front-door/drive-by-virus

PS
I have yet to see any of the kids bring me a computer in mexico that didn't have some kind of infection .

PPS if you have a lot of good info on the computer
the way you may save without doing a restore is putting the hard drive in another virus free computer and doing a scan sometimes you can remover the virus infected files, just keep track of what you delete and replace them.
and you may get your old computer back?

I would "undo" the system restore if it didn't work. Rest assured, there are plenty of other victims of the same thing that got you. Many of these people go online to search for answers. Yes, it's true that there are predators out there to get your money, but usually there are some free & good answers available also.

A few months ago my system caught something in which I immediately did a google search resulting in only a half a dozen or less possibilities. Each day that went by, those search results grew exponentially. Within a week or so the web had thousands of results regarding the bugger (including predatory websites).

I didn't do anything except the system restore and undoing it. The problem went away within a week or two.

I've been using Grisoft's AVG Free for a few years now on my XP system. That and Sygate Personal Firewall (free) have me fairly content.
I avoid Norton or anything that Microsoft foists in my face like I've no choice. angry.gif Someday, I hope to learn the Linux OS and further break from the Bill Gates empire. dry.gif

"... Someday, I hope to learn the Linux OS and further break from the Bill Gates empire."

Just do it. I put together a machine from parts and installed a Linux distribution (Fedora). Even buying the cheapest possible computer works. Tell them you don't want an operating system with it and it's even cheaper.

Every time windows like that pop up, such as "Your computer is infected. Download the new patch." or whatever it is, I always hit the "Esc" key or press Alt-F4 to get OUT of that window. NEVER, NEVER click on ANYTHING because the "No" or "Yes" can still go to the same download and you're stuck.
