Hey,

I started this subject to see if anyone has info on good fishing services running out of Ensenada? Anyone?

I have gone out with Sergio's on many occasions in Ensenada. Nice, friendly people, secure parking and a fun day. The guys working on the boat make it a good day no matter how much experience you have and will even clean / fillet your fish for you so you can bring them home and put them on the grill. They let you bring your own ice chest and as I recall the all day boat was about $60, including the tip to the guys for cleaning the fish...

The size boat that goes out is based on the number of people that day. Usually you will head out on a boat with about a dozen or two on a boat that I would estimate to be about a 40 footer. Maybe a little more or less buy that seems about right. Besides the great care the deck hands give, the captain is constantly on his fish radar as well as talking to other boats looking for spots with action. They know that if you have a fun day and catch fish you will come back. I always do.

Having taken fishing boats out from many ports along the Pacific coast I can tell you that I have never so enjoyed a day fishing as I do with the boats out of Mexico. The guys onboard really go out of their way to make sure you have a good time and are extremely helpful and friendly.

Be sure to take an ice chest with your beverages of choice, sandwiches and snacks. I also like to take along a light fold out tri-stool that I can bungie cord to my gear. Last piece of advice is to bring one of those cup holders you can attach to the railing...

Dude, if I was still in the area, I would definitely join you guys. That sounds damn fun. F*ck, just drinking beer and talking on the open water sounds fun. But to tell you the truth, I probably wouldn't eat the fish raw right on the boat, not the most sanitary. Although talk about fresh. Anyways, where would you get the wasabi and soy sauce?

I still remember when you were over at my place for the sushi party. I believe we both ate the raw fish that I bought from the 6th street seafood area and neither of us got sick and that stuff was just on ice. Of course, my girl at the time did sweet talk the guy behind the counter to sell us the freshest part.

Believe me Ryu the fish at a sushi resturant in Tijuana is not as fresh as the fish I'll be reeling in on Saturday.

Well got back from fishing we just did the day boat left at 7AM and got back at 2PM it was 62 dollars per person. And it was great the boat only had 22 people on it the deck hands were helpful and friendly I caught 5 fish llingcod and bonita. No one caught yellowtail on the boat. Bonita were everywhere.

We had a great time and definately will be back again...

Glad to hear the trip was a success and you probably would have spent more than that buying the fishes from the supermarket. Mexico is great!

I love bonita... excellent for canning, I think it tastes better than tuna.

Bonito is the second cousin to tuna. As long as you cut out the dark meat/blood strip the meat is excellent especially bbq'd
