I wanna let you guys know about my favorite breakfast place in all BAJA!

Casa de Coronado's,its a restaurant/café/dinner its located on Colonia Altamira and since it opened like 10 years ago the place is packed every single day!!

If you come here be ready to wait in line for a table,the have GREAT prices GREAT Food and Great ambiance, the restaurant looks like an old Mexican western cantina, its outside decorated with farm and old western gadgets and cactus give the feeling your about to enter a cantina of a small dusty town.

The inside is decorated with old rifles and canteens and old pictures, even one of old Geronimo!

They have good service and my favorite dish to order is the steak and eggs all done with fresh American ingredients serve with hash brown potato and 2 slices of toast and jelly, the steak is a juicy rib eye steak done just right!
They also have great pancakes and my personal favorite there French toast with fresh fruit.
There most expensive dish is like 50 pesos.!!! the have great combination of breakfasts its better tasting then IHOPE or Dennis and its way cheaper.

The owner Rafael Coronado and main Chef worked in the U.S. for many years in CoCo´s Restaurants and Bakerys as its main Chef,i known him for many years and i know how he strives for quality.
It use to be opened only for breakfast but now there starting to also open in the evenings and serve great steaks and BBQ ribs u guys got to try it! i haven't been there for there lunch or dinner but I'm told is just as good.

how you get there?? well just go to downtown and take 3rd street west bound like going to playas and make a turn on ¨H¨street to wards 4th street make a right turn on 4th going up the hill on top of the hill is the CASA DE LA CULTURA a red brick building from the 30´s you will drive on the main street its called Paris st. your goin to pass the first stop light next to a school and on the left hand side, there she is Casa de Coronado's! you will see it because its small parking is always full...

I like the colonia Altamira; it has an old historic ambience, sort of like San Francisco.

Lot's of cops would eat there a couple years ago when Altamira was on my regular path. Maybe still do.

This place seriously has the best american style breakfast in Tijuana....buscuits and gravy.....ummmmmmm

That is unique - I haven't found many places that offer a good biscuits and gravy. That combined with sausage is one of my favorite breakfasts...

Failo (Rafael) the main Chef and owner of Casa de Coronado's started with a little dinner and hamburger place also here in Colonia Altamira and just served breakfast and burgers,all of a sudden the place was just to busy and people would wait in the cars to order food to go, but I'm telling you this because there hamburgers man! they were great, restaurant quality hamburger nicely served with the works they even look good decorated with parsley to me they were a better tasting then Bob´s Big Boys hamburgers from the states NOT that knock off joint here in TJ on Agua Caliente boulevard ,i wish he would start making them again because there not in there menu anymore. :cry:

I enjoy a classic Mexican style breakfast but I also look forward to good biscuits and gravy at times. It would be boring to always eat the same type of cuisine...

someone must have peed in tijuanalunchbunch's corn flakes ie: his ZERO interest in a breakfast place......my mother used to tell me that if I had nothing nice to say that I should say nothing which is what I would suggest to TJLB...............

It is technically Mexican food since is made in Mexico and by Mexicans...



But I'm up to the challenge ,you want inexpensive,good Mexican food that is served fast,and you dont have to worry about the tip!..i got the place for you.

If you know where the MERCADO DE ARTESANIAS is on second street next to the SMART AND FINAL theres a taco stand that is always full of locals in the mornings theres actually 2 carts one on each side of the MERCADO there tacos are huge and there only like $12 pesos each they have such dishes like mole and rice,chicharron,steak in red sauce,scrambled eggs in a red sauce my favorite,milanesa, Chiles rellenos,beef and potatoes, potatoes and cheese a shrimp dish that is really good, pork and nopales(cactus) and they also have ice cold Jamaica or horchata to wash it down.

They are served with rice or refried beans all in the same taco, its pretty clean and is inspected regularly by the department of health, so even if its on the street its safe to eat

If you want real Mexican food that locals eat you have to try this place,it is what fast food should taste like.

I been away from tjblog for a time now and im sorry to let you guys know that my friend and neighboor Rafael Coronado the owner of Casa Coronados was kidnaped and murder, i hope hes in a better place now,and its sad how crime is out of control in our city.
