I've been getting into DSLR photography and thought I'd share some of the photos I've taken. Hope you enjoy them ...

1) Plaza Carousel ... just a shot of the fountain with the carousel in the background.

2) Best tacos al vapor ever ... somewhere close to 5y10.

3) El Vergel albercas ... random old tractor by the entrance.

4) Glorietta right by Plaza Rio ... got some funny looks from the motorcycle cops running the shutter at 15 seconds on a tripod haha.

5) Very cool, uncrowded beach just south of Popotla.

6) An African dance troupe performing in Plaza Rio.

7) Still waters of Estero Beach resort just south of Ensenada.

8.) More of Estero Beach.

9) Restaurant at Estero Beach.

10) Colonia Obrera ... this is Tijuana.

11) Sunset just north of Puerto Nuevo.

Hi Choi!! Nice to see you around man.

I'm usually in priority mode unless it's particularly awkward lighting then I go manual. Never auto though.

nice to see you to...hope all is going well for you...

play with shuttle speed on two different moving subjects...you will get interesting detail

best think about digital SLR camera is that you save tons of money on developing costs ..

in old days , one had to wait to deveope the film to see the actuall work, now laptop or SD reader/ memory card reader is all it takes..

i have few SLR cameras going back to F4 to canon digital rebel ...

buy your self a external HD just for your photos...see ya in couple years.

Thanks for sharing with us. I especially like the shot of "las tijeras" monument in Zona Rio. Personally I've never really understood or liked the monument but the picture sure is nice... what is this effect called when the object around what you are focusing on are moving?

I was explained to me once that the monument is supposed to be a U from some angle and an M from others representing both the US and Mexico. Sometimes it makes sense, other times I can't see it.

Thanks for the compliments guys ... I’ll be posting up more over time.

Motion blur ... it’s just using a very very slow shutter speed. Use of a tripod is a must to keep all non-moving objects crisp.

Very cool! I can totally see it. The “U” is just the formation of the two spires. The “M” is formed if you look at the two spires as the dead space in the letter and the sky being the letter itself.

13) Centuro Cultural ... anyone will recognize this.

Thanks ... it's just a Nikon D40 - my first SLR. I'm using the kit 18-55mm lens and a 50mm f/1.8 prime lens. Still got a lot to learn.

Couple more from this past weekend ...

14) Same beach just south of Popotla (I really gotta find out what this place is called) ... achieved this look with a couple filters letting me use a really slow shutter speed despite all the light ...

15) Same location and effect here ...

16) Bomberos were at Plaza Rio in front of Cinepolis collecting donations ...

17) Shot of the outdoor patio of the new Starbucks on Paseo de Heroes ...

Hope you enjoyed them. smile.gif

Oh yeah! Really nice one too. Just seems no one can quite get the Frappuccino right like Starbucks. At first glance, one would think d’Volada and Terra Cafe (sp?) are termbling at the knees although I am sure that the Mex government has capped the number of locations they can open – wouldn’t surprise me one bit. I am surprised that it has taken this long for one to pop up in TJ. I recall seeing Starbucks locations in other cities in particular a drive-thru in Puerto Vallarta.
