For all of those who are from Chicago or NYC...or just love a nice quality slice of your favorite pie...Where do you find the best pizza in Tijuana...And I'm not talking cardboard with some tomate paste and Jasck Cheese....I'm talking quality.....IF you say Domino's....you should be banded from the board.....

Lefties is good but so is Regents Pizza in UTC....What I'm looking for is a great NYC style pizza thin crust....ummmmm.......

Vittorio's is the best of the wrost in Tijuana....The Lugo or Lupo something like that...compared to any of the places I go to in SD Vittorio's would be bottom of the barrel

I haven't found anything in TJ that would resemble good thin crust NYC style pizza or Chicago style deep dish..and second the notion that vittorio's and mama mia's are probably the best that TJ has to offer.

As for SD, the pizza that dave brought (i think it was lefties) got close to chicago style pizza and i believe pizzeria uno is in SD too..but neither of those can get close to touching a slice from Geno's East in Chicago.. I think if you really want NYC or chicago pizza, you have to order it on the internet from chicago or NYC and have them ship it overnight. I did that once for some coworkers in LA where I ordered chicago style pizza, Chicago style ribs, vienna beef dogs, and Eli's cheesecake and had it shipped overnight.

Is mama Mia's pizza really good? There is one at the end of the street but we have never tried it. Also I have noticed there is a chinese food place on every block-big and small. Are any of them any good?

Gino’s East wins hands down!!! Absolutely! No Contest!! But I like real NY style too sometimes. As well as NY meatball heroes too. Pretty sure I was at Lombardi's too; didn't impress me but very good. Do they have Italian meatballs in TJ?

Don’t know about any Howard Street/Evanston/Skokie connection, outside the El. Skokie ain’t exactly Italian.... They got some Indians there... (local joke). But I did go out with one girl there named Kathy Ireland, no fodder.

I like the Gino’s (they have expanded) at 162 East Superior; it was just two blocks from my apartment on East Chicago and Rush: it’s between the Northwestern University(?) Rathskellar ( peanut shells on floor) and the Mich Bowl (great, fantastic live cocktail lounge place that used to have live solo performers and this one lady, a big black lady that would wail out the blues almost as good as Odetta; Man! she really belted them out good!)

The original Gino’s is on 633 North Wells and there is one on Rush as well.

Now for the educational part: Do I have to tell you guys everything? Here’s what you do: Find one very attractive, sexy United Airlines (Chicago based, but any airline will do) Stewardess (oops, flight attendant) that flies from San Diego to Chicago twice a week and you will have your pie and eat it too. And then, there is desert...

I broke up with that flight attendant; it was horrendous; she goes; Gino’s goes; it was excruciating for a while but then I found Felipe's (my favorite pizza in SD) in Pacific Beach and met a Sheila from down under.

And so, I lived happily thereafter until I moved to Tijuana......... :cry:

I am so glad to hear that Milky/George (whatever your name is now) is going to buy for all of us!!!! Mighty big of you! Thank you very, very much. WHEN??? WHERE??? You buy the pizza (only Gino’s) and I’ll keep your margarita glass full!

Sounds like there needs to be drastic action undertaken. I have been to LA's newest pizzeria, Mozza, even went there when it was under a different Italian Restaurant ownership back in the 70's. Excellent. But just try to get a reservation. I waited almost 2 months. Ridiculous. My personal fav is L & B Spumoni Garden in the Sheepshead Bay(yeah!) section of Brooklyn or Grimaldis on Fulton or Totonno's Pizzeria Napolitano on Neptune in Brighton Beach. Pizza? Brooklyn Rules!!!! But I digress. AND yes I have been to Chicago and sampled their offerings by the slice. Now that commercial trucks can enter the US for commercial purposes I suggest we search for a sympathetic ear from a returning trucker with an empty container and hijack an unwitting pizzeria stateside or somehow coerce several pizza workers at one these establishments to spill all their secrets. Collect enough intell, and go to Vittorio's or some other place, and show them how to do it right and cut a deal with this blogs membership to garner royalties from the massive proceeds of the sale of their newly improved pizza. I can see the lines crossing over several sidewalks on Revolucion. What will the police do? That was a nice dream. Forget it. Pizza? BROOKLYN RULES!!!!!

Yup, Ryu, its true!! Mozza is $20 plus for a large pie. Totonno's has been around since 1924, for instance, and is the oldest continuously family run pizzeria in the entire USA, and not so expensive, comparatively, and is subway convenient ( just walk down Emmons, which becomes Neptune Ave., and eventually, after a kilometer or so, your in business)!! Mozza is new, expensive ( so is the parking- I advise securing a blue handicapped person placard by any means whatsoever), and oh so trendy, so all the fashionistas, and Hollywood shakers, and assorted wannabees, gotta go. Mario is laughing all the way to the bank. Now Tijuana has its culinary charms, but a worthwhile pizzeria would make the circle complete.

Cafe Pueblo in Ensenada serves a fairly decent pizza. Easy to find - stand in front of Papas & Beer looking in, then go to your right across the street - second door.

Well theres a pizza place @Seaport village in San Diego called Assagios Chicago
I used to go there since I was a kid, the first and last place I had chicago pizza. it should still be there.

Try Chans Chinese on Sanchez Taboada. It should change your mind.
