Unlike its cousins in San Diego, Pampas has always been a flat rate. There was a price increase a while ago, and $18.00 (without drinks or desert) sounds right. The price is all you can eat for the meat and salad bar. Good food.

D' Tonys changed it name a while ago to La Estancia. The menu and service are about the same. (They switched from white linen tablecloths to a mustard color).

Filets are about $15.00, and that's the most expensive thing in the menu. I was there with a friend recently and the bill for apitizer, drinks, and entrees was under $35.00. Good food.

Aparently Tony is one of many well-to-do Tijuana residence who left due to the kiddnapping problem. He opened an Argentinina steak house restaurant in Little Italy:

True the price is right at Pampas....but felt that the meat was all over cooked....But If I didn't like it I'm sure that ronin will LOVE it....

That is a big problem in Mexico in general... I find that it is hard to get a steak or any type of meat that is not over cooked... I even had to show my GF how to cook the meat until it is done just right... I think she told me she was afraid of bacteria if she didn't cook it enough...

Yes, that's the problem with Pamaps. Since I started telling them I like rare meat things have improved a little. They bring me the rarest they have--which is better than what I was getting--but they don't have rare meat.

I can verify SDC comment regarding Angus beef. Get the two or three person platter. Although, I would only do it for two people. Also try their wine. It's not bad for the price.

Another recommendation, you can also get some great beef at SDC's place. The only problem with this place is that it's a selective about it's clientele and you have to be on their VIP list. Very good beef though.
