Usually a good selection there.
They are open quite late and most of the day.
Most tacos varios either open for 8 hours from the morning or early evening.
Cost about 10 pesos.
Also, there are many tamale vendors in that area.

It is a bit east from the downtown area most of you go to but it is the only place I know that only serves tacos and has a line of people waiting to get in everyday when they open. My favorite taco is the shrimp and NY steak. They are very busy, clean, a staff of approx 20 and you must be prepared to wait up to 45 minutes for a table at times. But defintely worth it. I have friends who come in from out of town and always insist on including time for tacos on hermitas!
Open 6:00 PM - Midnight
Closed Tuesdays

Their tacos are good, although there may be better places. It's a good place when you're downtown and hungry.

Milky you are right. One of the best Taco stands I ever ate at (La Chuleta) 5th & F. Martinez. Two Tacos and a Coke, all you want to eat, also a tray with sauce and vegies, fills you up. ($3.25 U.S.). The Best

I'm still looking for a good tamale place. Every now and then there's a good tamale guy by agua caliente at the border across from McDonalds. Theres also Rey de Tamal near centro which is an actual restaurant but haven't tried that yet. Surprisingly, Sanbornes (Plaza Rio - por afuera) of all places had really really good tamales.

There are like 4 or 5 Tacos El Gordos in the US now. It has the same owner as a few of them in TJ.

I like Chuleta's for the value... they make nice big tacos and quesadillas. And I also like Taco's El Guero for their flavor.
