That highways ends in Santucky (Santee),....
Ha Santucky ! That's a good one.
You don't mean like guns, meth labs, & white separtist with a lot of time on their hands ? Got me spooked then...
I did rescue one of my kitties from way up yonder. She still seems to be tweaking.
(Miggiesmallz- TEXMEX)
....going to wait until JAN/FEB to buy an 08 Ninja. ...
......Yesterday it took me 2 hours to get INTO TIJUANA, the CHP and CBP were doing a reverse inspection...
who´s bright idea was it to do it on a friday night, WHAT THE F*CK!!!!
Ninja ? Yikes, I must be getting old. Glad you're okay.

As far as the border goes...
Welcome to 1984 (er umm,...or Homeland Security). Osama must be blushing (or toasting) with his Orwell novel.
But golly Miss Molly, I feel sooooo much safer now. Even my proctologist doesn't inspect me that well. biggrin.gif

"WHAT THE F*CK!!!!" or Why the f*ck they do it ?
Seriously though, they do it because they can. Sounds too simple and trite ?
Imagine a hundred thousand (or more) pissed off citizens protesting with letters, phone calls, or worse (in the streets & in their faces).
They know most folks are too busy, too embarrassed, or too cowed to put up a good street fight (protest) for a worthwhile cause.
There is a word people use for it. They call DEMOCRACY.
Most people don't realize that voting is only a tiny part of it.

(Miggiesmallz- TEXMEX)
I don't blame them, waiting in line is frustrating. Why a metro are of 5 million (SD AND TJ COMBINED) only has two ports of entry is incomprehensible, ridiculous, and just play STUPID… Why other smaller border metro areas such JUAREZ/EL PASO and LAREDO/NUEVO LAREDO have more ports of entries than we do is illogical. We should have just as many as those places if not MORE.
Good freaking point. someone ought to start a movement for such a cause.
Make it a clarion call for a mayoral campaign. They'd get my vote and an "atta boy".
Where's the good gooberment when we need 'em ? :x

After the first hour of waiting that stagnant traffic I actually called CHP to ask them what was going on, why was I just stuck there. They told me there were no reports of accidents or anything to that nature going into Tijuana from San Ysidro, LIARS. After two hours I made it to the front and saw the Highway Patrol and the CBP had merged the six lane into three. !!!!!!

Not necessarily LIARS. May just be bad communication. The person working the phones may not have been informed that the CHP were assisting CBP in this stupidity.

You're right, it is stupid and the longer I am here and deal with these people (CBP/ICE) I am convinced that they get a certain level of satisfaction out of the harassment value.

Like there weren't long lines when y'all moved down. You knew what it was like. You go to just about any country and you have to go through a long lines, have your bags inspected, papers inspected etc.. Coming across the US/Mexican boarder is one of the easiest. People make choices. Like my mother said... you made your bed, you sleep in it. Stop beaching. Enjoy each day and be grateful!

We're not talking about the line to get into the USA, its when stupid CBP stop traffic going into Mexico. I was in line for over 4 hours trying to get into Mexico the other day...

Yes it does lately. It used to be something very rare in the past. I say that as someone who used to commute daily to work with the help of a sentri pass into San Diego. In 3 years of commuting I only saw the CBP pull that stunt once. Now it is becoming a weekly thing. The problem is that you have 19 gates coming into the USA at San Ysidro and they narrow it down to one or two letting you back into Mexico when they pull this crap. It accomplishes almost nothing. Anyone who was in line to go across with something they shouldn't have simply pulls off, gets something to eat and waits until the stupid thing is called off. They just put all us law abiding citizens thru hell in waiting for hours to get back into Mexico. Its a bunch of BS which is what the CBP is all about. Ask anyone in law enforcement - they will tell you that everyone who gets cut from making it on as a cop, sheriff deputy or CHP ends up at CBP - they'll take anybody!

Thank God I only need to cross every week or so to pick up my mail...

Despite living in Playas, I would probably get home more quickly just crossing at OTAY and driving through TJ whenever the CHIPS and the lame a** CBP pull this bullsh*t. God bless the Dept of Homeland Security for their efficiency.

I encourage you to call the CHP Border communication center the next time anyone gets caught in this mess at 858 637 3800.... It won't make the line move any faster but at least you can let them know ho you feel....

I feel sorry for the CBP. They can't do anything right. If they do there job, they get fired. If they don't they get fired. They can't win.

Their management (in no small part the current administration) has put them in a fairly impossible situation.

Still, stopping cars going into Mexico without a definite objective is just stupid. It's a stupid management decision on their part and I can not feel sorry for them for that.

It's nothing personal on my part, I get that they’re just doing their job. This is why CBP has a bad rep and high turnover. I just think that organization needs to find a balance between effectiveness and efficiency and they have not been able to do that.

They should stop these southbound check points and maybe build a multilevel border crossing at San Ysidro/Tijuana going Northbound since finding an appropriate location for more ports of entries has proven difficult. Why not??? 19 lanes above, 19 lanes below, just a quick thought. I noticed that in California, with exception to the Oakland Bay Bridge, multi-level roadways are not used, is it an earthquake thing?

Well, to begin with if they paid better they might attract some more of the "upper crust" instead of the "bottom of the barrel" which seems to prevail. I have met few CBP agents over the years which actually were pretty good. They themselves would tell me about the parade of morons in the ranks of CBP they had to put up with on top of the incredible "good ol boy" network which you had to deal with to survive in the organization.

I feel more sorry for us as we are the ones who have to deal with all the BS on a daily basis. If the average CBP agent had the class and IQ of an average deputy sheriff we would probably be better off and they would get fired less...

1,500 pounds of pot seized near border

UNION-TRIBUNE BREAKING NEWS TEAM

7:03 a.m. December 21, 2007

CAMPO – Border Patrol agents arrested two people Thursday and seized more than $1 million worth of marijuana after two vehicles illegally entered the United States from Mexico, officials said Friday.
Agents spotted a GMC Yukon and Ford Bronco speeding away from the border east of Campo around 9 a.m. Thursday and suspected the vehicles had illegally entered the country. As agents pursued the vehicles, the drivers turned in opposite directions on state Route 94.

One driver was stopped at the intersection of SR-94 and state Route 188 in Tecate and the other was caught after he stopped and ran from his vehicle, a Border Patrol news release said.
Agents said 717 pounds of marijuana was found in the Ford Bronco and 832 pounds were found in the Yukon.

Did you read your own post? They were ENTERING the USA. The whole reason we have a narcotraficante problem in Mexico is to deliver the product to the end consumer - The USA! It is not a Mexico problem - it is a USA problem!

There is nothing in your post that justifies these arbitrary and stupid reverse border searches going into Mexico that only end up harassing the honest and hard working people...

"It is not a Mexico problem - it is a USA problem! "

Strongly disagree. It IS a Mexico problem, it IS a USA problem, it is a GLOBAL problem. And it is handled badly by both.

The reason I say it is a USA problem is that the Narco related problems in northern Mexico stem from trying to get the product into the USA, not Mexico. If the demand for drugs did not exist in the USA there would not be anyone fighting to get them in. Mexico has the unfortunate distinction of sharing the southern border with the USA. Mexico is just the conduit.

There is not a drug problem in the USA because of Mexico, there is narco related violence in Mexico due to the high demand for drugs in the USA. It is simple supply and demand. If the drugs were coming from the North Pole it would be Canada instead of Mexico...

Only that the argument ignores the very large drug use problem in Mexico. Agreed there is a problem in the US. But even if there were no more market in the US, the problem would not disappear in Mexico. The US use shares in the responsibility, but does not get it all.
