In Topic: Obtaining Identification after deportation

My brother in law is in TJ right now due to being deported. A family member went over to help him obtain all the paperwork he needed to find some sort of work. They asked questions and ended up at the post office which required his birth certificate and a bill of some sort to prove where he was living. After gathering the paperwork supposedly required the went back with a photo and they assured him this was the ID accepted everywhere! He is now being told that this ID from the post office is NOT what he needs to obtain any kind of job there. He says that this ID from the post office is huge and doesn't even fit in his wallet. Can anyone help us figure out what kind of identification he needs to be able to get a job and not be hassled by the cops! It seems odd to us that they told him that he only needed the ID from the post office and now they have changed their minds and want additional documents (bills from an address where he lives and it can't be a motel receipt...What the heck???). If he doesn't have the items needed in his name then he needs someone to write him a letter stating that he lives with them and they need to go with him and show their ID! Good lord it is Identification!! How the heck are people suppose to get ahead when they make is so difficult! Please HELP!!! angry.gif My personal email is dmorrislegal@gmail.com. We are in need of the info ASAP. We are also looking for a decent place for him to rent a room...it seems that many of the places there cheap enough to get him by are rented by the hour at night...WONDERFUL!

Try Immigrate2US.net He probably needs a federal ID. You can also apply for a Mexcian Passport.

Anybody a fan?

dry.gif I started reading Maggie's Madness about 3 or so years ago. I hadn't been to Mexico in a long time, but then a friend of mine went for a visit. He was unable to come back. After living for 30 years in the states he was having a hard time adjusting. During my visits I noticed the newspapers had so much blood and gore about the current "drug war" so I googled the subject and found Maggie's Madness. I don't think I agree with her all of the time. I thought I was getting good information about Tijuana and safety. I was so curious about how a nation could be held hostage by such violence that I began to research the history of Mexico. Then a found a book by Ion Grillo...El Narco. It is a well written book about the drug war....not about sensationalizing the blood and gore. He has many many sources that I believe are valid. Now that I have read this book, I wonder what purpose Maggie's Madness serves. I also think about the crime in America and wonder what it must be like for a person to dwell on just the crime that happens. I think about Yo Soy 132, and I am hopeful that they will find a way to help their country to become more peaceful, I think about the families who have missing loved ones, and those who are innocent who have been killed in the crossfire of this bloody battle. I pray for the people of Mexico and I worry that America will also continue to grow more and more corrupt and violent. I am writing this just days after the Sandy Hook Elementary school shootings. I am a teacher at an elementary school. I use to teach at a middle school that was greatly impacted by gang activity. I stopped reading Maggie's Madness because it is so depressing. Sometimes I feel selfish for wanting to just focus on the good, the positive, and the joy. I think it is too late for that. What is Maggie's goal? What does relating all of the crime do to help? Where are the patriots of Mexico who will stand up and make the changes needed to create a Mexico that is for the people? I miss the days when I felt safe in Tijuana...the days when there wasn't such a scene at the border and the vendors were in abundance on Revolution....

Hi all!! I am 40 years old and have been living in TJ for about 3 months. I am an Oregon native. My husband is Mexican. Do to immigration issues my daughter ( 9 years) old moved here. We are from small rural town in Oregon so this is a huge change. I am finishing up my B.A. in Special Education. Hopefully done within a year in half. I speak limited Spanish ( learning more everyday), my daughter speaks less. I am looking for a good bilingual school close to Reforma. I am also looking for a Spanish class or tutor for my daughter and I. Any help is appreciated. Thank you!!

Hi, Just wanted to say hello as I am a native Oregonian. Before moving to California I lived in Sisters...near Bend and I have a lot of family in Oregon. I spent some time in Tiajuana because the person I loved was illegally in the US and went to visit family in Mexico and then could not return to the sates. We had an apartment in Colonial Libertad. He moved to Michoacan and came back to TJ a couple of times. It was really hard for him to get used to living in Mexico again as he had live in the US for over 20 years....he had some kind of a visa or something for awhile and did not renew it. Did you meet your husband in Oregon? I didn't live in TJ full time as I am a teacher and didn't want to give up my job and I live too far from the border to commute every day. If there is anything I can do to help you, please let me know.
