i agree with BajaGringo on trying to check in with bag in hand i know they will change the rate if they see someone looking for a room. online is cheaper but i noticed that the reservation systems sometime "goes offline" on a fri... which would force you to call or go to front desk which rate is higher. so if possible try to plan ahead esp if staying near revolution i was trying to stay around there but noticed the rates where high almost same or more then US so i usually stay at hotel prem i found that to be best deal if anyone else has a place like that please let me know.

That's why I don't like to negotiate with a hotel with my bag in hand, standing at the front desk. I have spent more than a thousand nights of my life over the past 30+ years traveling in and out of hotels on business. My best deals were always arranged BEFORE arriving at the hotel and via phone/internet/email. When I first made the decision to move to Baja and was looking for a place I got a room at the Grand Hotel on the VIP level which are nicer rooms and with a very nice and private guest lounge/bar for only $68 a night. The desk price was about $180, the internet price was around a hundred as I recall so I emailed the hotel and told them that I would be staying for 4 to 5 days and to give me a better deal.

I thought $68 was great for that mini-suite on the next to top floor at the hotel. You can hang out in the lounge in your robe with a lot of great extra services that made that one of my favorite hotel stays. I also met a very cute staff member that I dated for awhile after moving down here.

Yes this place is open and me and my fiancee have been there twice, once each weekend Fri to Sat.  Yes it is a love motel as some say but it could also be used to stay over night if you need a room, they are about 38 US for a regular room and of course you have the 4 hour rate if you need it.  if you do go with kids because you are out and need a room please make sure you turn the tv on because there are about 3-4 porn channels that just come on, just an fyi, the rooms with jacuzzis are about 104$ over night but depends on what time you check in, i have found that if you try to get a room earlier in the day say 12-2 the rate will be higher but if you wait till later the rate goes down but you stand the chance of the rooms being filled up.  last time we went which was fri night till sat we got a regular room, the rooms are clean and everything works etc, hot water, tv it also has private garage so if you plan on staying the night and going to rev to a club its a good place, the taxi lib will pick you up right on the street, not the high way but up the hill i just wait for one and wave my hand it's usually about 4.50 5 bucks to get to las pulgas but make sure to ask first before jumping in.  i have checked about 4 other hotels and this place seems to be the best value and no hassle, they also have room service and the rates are good so if you were looking to eat and get dressed up and go that is a good option as well.

Hope this helps

Hello, 1st post to this board but curious if anyone has any luck with this, I too will be moving to Otay, MX and have DirecTV in SD, I have been curious on finding a good person to hook up everything, maybe someone that crosses from US and can take SAT down here and hook up there?  Also for the address I know you need a US address but has anyone tried using an actual Mail Box Etc that gives you an actual live address rather then a PO box for bill?  Reason I ask is because they do auto billing and could use old address and sometimes they send me stuff in the mail I would rather change my address on file to a non P.O. Box just curious if anyone has the best options.

Thank You,
It's great to see everyone helping out each other when new people (including myself) decided to make the move over
