We just got back from a stay at Hotel Ticuan. Great! Yes, it does deserve the 4 stars. Front desk said it was three years old. Lots of granite and marble everywhere. Plasma TV. Room was very quiet with no noise from the street. Free indoor parking just a few feet from the front door. Euro-Spanish modern, a pleasant change from north of the border. Web site is Spanish only. 700 pesos with 50 peso discount for online reservation.

Only negatives are the very hard pillows and no reading lights on the granite topped bedside tables.

Inexpensive breakfasts at a very tasteful restaurant and a nice bar a few feet away. Big screens everywhere.

Very friendly and helpful staff. They answered a couple of email questions promptly. Requested and got a 6th floor room with a good view.

The $47/night is about what the the tax would be alone in New York.
