Understanding Auto Insurance in Tijuana

17 November 2009 - 05:11 AM

I have followed two threads on this Blog pertaining to auto insurance that seek the " cheap way out "  and ignore reality of this third world country . In review of all posts no one has ever mentioned anything remotely identified with How an Accident Plays Out !   That is to say ; what happens , who is responsible and hopefully the reimbursement of Losses to a 3rd party claimant .  One must assume everyone offering well intended advice gets in and out of B.C without risk of a loss. Speaking from experience that is BS

In my brief time I have experienced two ( 2 ) partial thefts and three (3) accidents  and offer a certain reality of life on Mars

Theft is a  Comp loss and for the most part minor in replacement of parts but never the less reflect the risk involve  as a owner.
Began with new wiper blades put on a Toyota  , stolen within 2 months. No big deal...but has to say something about life in general , pathetic.
Esculated to one ( 1 ) month later the catalitic converter  stolen . Big deal if you saw the look on my wifes face when she started the car up.

Accidents:
When living in a condo two years ago  one of our  vehicles was parked within our assigned parking . Some drunk " yahoo "  in a jacked up  supension  and " huge tires " decided to make a Y-turn  next to our car . The ending result was total wipe out of the passanger side of a parked vehicle.  Left no note so must catergorize it as Hit and Run. The Police were called but would not make a Report as there were no witnesses .. Later the same day after inquiring there was one witness who resided in  the unit on the 2nd floor directly about the incident .  As I have learned to accept she and others  live in fear and would not come forth.

Two accidents left unaccounted for  and will address them manana.  To anyone that believes there is a " cute " answer to insurance claims you have not experienced their kangaroo court
