I'm hoping to move to Tijuana legally in a couple of weeks. I'm wanting to take a small two door car full of stuff and declare what I have. But, I don't have my visa yet. I tried to apply for it a couple months ago, but was told I had to be there two weeks later to sign papers and I was only down there for a week so I will have to get it once I move. Will I get hassled by them by bringing kitchen appliances and things obviously for a move (probably a grand total of $200), without having the actual FM 3? Also, I've never driven across the border; I always cross on foot. What will the customs inspection be like? Even though I don't have the visa, I have already typed out the Menaje de Casa, thinking it will make everything easier if I can just show them the list of everything. Will they empty out all my boxes to make sure I'm not lying? Finally, will I be able to go through customs in the middle of the night (something like 1 or 2 am) so I can avoid a long line and the crazy traffic en el centro? Any help/advice will be appreciated. Hi everybody. My girldfriend lives in Tijuana, and I'll be going to school in San Diego so I'm thinking about moving to Tijuana and commuting. I've been there half a dozen times and I think I'll like it. I'm looking forward to it, but I'm nervous about crossing in my car and going through customs. I always walk across the border and take cabs and busses around since the traffic in El Centro terrifies me. lol.
