I'm thinking about making a big change for the new year by moving to Tijuana. I've been living in San Diego for 15 years. I've spent all that time living in the same apartment unit (I can prove it, I have references), so I am stable in that regard.
Quite frankly, the idea of moving to Mexico turns me into a nervous Nellie, but it is something I have always wanted to do, and so I thought I'd try living in Tijuana at least for 6 months or so.
Before I forget, let me say that I don't drink or drug. And so it is not, I repeat NOT, important for me to live close to bars.
I really need help in finding a safe place to live ASAP.
I'm not the type who likes to accept a handout. I would pay you a finders fee if you could provide me with the name and telephone number of a trustworthy apartment manager who currently has a unit for rent.
How does a $50 finders fee sound? I could pay you through PayPal or I could pay you in person at a coffee shop.
I know it's not a perfect world, but here are some things that I'm looking for in an apartment complex or house:
1) Steel bars on the windows.
2) Other Americans would be living close by, a virtual community of Americans, all of who would be watching out for each others personal property, or in other words, a true-blue Neighborhood Watch type mindset that is in place.
3) A studio or a one or two bedroom would be fine as would a house.
4) I'd prefer to keep the price down, down as far as possible, say around $200/$300 a month though I might pay more depending on the circumstances.
5) Living near the University in Otay is appealing to me as I will be doing a lot of work on a daily basis, work that is related to the Internet.
6) It's within walking distance to a supermarket.
7) It's in a SAFE area.
I don't speak good Spanish, I barely speak the language. I don't have a car, I use public transportation to get around San Diego.
If you care to contact me directly, then please email me at I.Luv.Enchiladas@gmail.com and I'll be sure to get back to you. I'll include my telephone number in an email.
Again, I'd be willing to pay you a $50 finders fee if you can hook me up with a place that matches the five, six or seven points of criteria listed above (point #5, living in Otay, is not a must, and point #6 may not be easy to meet). Payment would be contingent on me moving into an apartment unit that you refer me to.
Time is of the essence: This offer ends approximately 5 days from now.
Sincerely,
Inglourious Basterd

In a Hurry: Need to Find a Place in TJ or Rosarito ASAP
05 January 2013 - 10:02 PM
Hello to All
05 January 2013 - 09:11 PM
I'm a San Diegan who is thinking about moving to TJ or Rosarito. If it happens, if I make the leap, it'll happen within the next several days as I have to be out of my current residence by the middle of this month. Making the move to Mexico is a daunting prospect, that's for sure, but ya only live once so what the heck.
Not sure if I'll be able to find a place that matches my criteria in such a short time span. Like so many other things in life, I'll need a little luck due largely to the time constraint.
If I get lucky and find a place in time then you'll see me post again about my experiences with Tijuana as it relates to medical care, dental care, public utilities, and other miscellaneous subjects that are bound to cross my mind. If you don't see me post again it is because I could not find a place to reside in Tijuana in time and so I had to settle on living in San Diego.
As an aside, I'll state that I like:
>motorcycles
>photography
>the Internet
>drinking coffee
>people-watching
>bicycling
>semi-loud music
>San Diego

I need a general practice lawyer or a criminal defense lawyer who practices law on both sides of the border. If you know of one, or are one, please post the contact info or PM me. I know you're out there, thank you.
