  On my first trip I visited jaco quepos and manuel antonio. This past june I went to san jose. CR a beautiful country but you need a car or a driver to do it properly. Prices for everything are too high for a CA country. I got really bored at night since I am not a huge drinker...nothing much to do except adventure sports which costs a lot of money.

Some of the local people have gotten jaded due to so many foreigners living there.

It might be a nice place to retire though. It depends on what your interests are.

I've stayed here a few times for two weeks at a time. Everything I have to say about this hotel is positive minus some of the carpets in the rooms. They can be quite gross. You need to see the room before you commit that's all.

The hotel is located in an extremely central location. It is only two blocks from revolucion yet quiet enough to be able to sleep. Anything you need is just a few blocks away. The staff is very friendly.

I don't know of too many mid range hotels in TJ. This is a decent choice for the budget minded.

Rates are $42 + change during the week and $46 + change for fri sat and sun .

I've eaten here twice recently. I was expecting classic mexican food but found it to be more mex/fusion oriented(mexican inspired international cuisine). The sopa azteca was amazing the first time but not the second. Otherwise the pechuga de pollo with red and green mole sauce was very nice while pollo with pasta(white sauce) was medicore the next time.

It is located on a rather deserted street so better to take a cab there. If you want t be cheap about it take public transport to zona rio then cab it from there.

Lunch both times came out to around $22 per person for an appetizer drink entree and tip. Maybe a flan was included one day. The bummer is the added cab fare I paid add $6 that makes you only want to come back every know and then.

Most cab drivers know it....behind discoteca LA ROCA ( Something like that) go past it make the right turn and then another right turn up the little street.

Is the dinner menu the same or more expensive ?

There is a very good japanese restaurant in the mini mall next to la torre de fundadores. Take a red colectivo up madero and ask to be let off at LA TORRE. From there walk across the street into the mini mall. I forgot the name of it but I've eaten there several times. It's off the beaten path so only locals would know it. The place looks and feels like any overpriced sushi place in the states but for a much lower cost.

They not only specialize in sushi but many cooked japanese dishes as well. You can even sit on the floor and eat in a traditional style...not my thing with low back issues!
