Hello everyone
I would like to have a place by the mid to end of Oct. would prefer 6mo to 1 yr lease at least. It is me, my husband, 5 yr old son and our dog. I would like to move into rosarito or any place close to the beach and pool!!!!!!!
2-3 bedroom, 1+ bathroom, fenced yard for our dog, fans or air conditioner, nice size kitchen and 1 of the rooms a good size, 1+ car garage if possibly (not mandatory) prefer a house instead of apt. smile.gif any thing $500 USD or below

Hi there, I have a house near the beach and will become avail. in oct.  We are asking $850.00 per month. It is in a gated community with 24/7 Security with patrol. You can walk to the beach or to the several pools. Large yard, Single level House on very large lot, with 2 very large bedrooms 2 full baths, one  in each bedroom. Also has a large underground water storage (pila) which you should also consider. Let me know if you may be interested. I realize it is more than what you would like to pay. Good luck and have a great day!!!

In Topic: Obstacles to Renting Upscale Tijuana

I have been looking into upgrading my living in Tijuana but have run into several obstacles. Whereas in Otay landlords are happy to rent to a decent looking person with first and last month rent.

Other properties have more stringent requirements.

1) Many want a fiador (a Mexico co-signer)

2) Many want good references, I have good references but they are in the US and don't speak Spanish

3) One landlord wanted to speak to my employer to verify that I had good employement. Since my boss does not know I live in Tijuana and would freak out if he knew, I passed on the property.

4) One agent, a conservative Senora (who seemed straight out of a Pedro Almodovar film) keep on grilling me on why a single gringo male would want to live in Tijuana.

These requirements seem particular true with large management companies that rent upscale properties.

Has any board members run into similiar obscales?

Hey otaybill,

# 1 Some landlords require this because some tenants do not pay their rent and they want to be able to protect themselves.
#2 Many landlords are English speaking or can have someone else call for them that do speak English to check references.
#3 Could you ask the landlord not to say that the property is in Mexico? This way, there should be no problem with anyone freaking out.
Employment verification is pretty much always done. Check stubs and other documents can also be required in many cases.
#4 That was strange!!!

Yes, this is pretty standard. In addition to what you stated many landlords will run a credit check on you in the States or ask you to bring a current credit report.

In addition to first and last month's rent, many landlords also require a security deposit.

Well, good luck to you!!

bajamom, that looks like a great place. How much is rent?

Hi Ryu, The rent is $950.00 dollars per month. It has 2 large bedrooms. Single Level Rustic Style Home with a great ocean view! Master bedroom can accommodate a King Size bedroom set and has a full private bath. 2nd. bedroom can accommodate a Queen size bedroom set and also has a full private bath. Has a large yard with lawn and patio. Kitchen has a gas stove, plenty of cabinet space, garbage disposal and eat in area, sunken living room with a nice big stone fireplace and panoramic windows to view the beautiful sunsets from inside as well as outside. It also has a large Pila, ( underground water storage ) so you will always have water whenever the street water is unavailable. It is on a very large lot so there is plenty of space for parking and great for outdoor gathering. This is a very unique house. Oh, I almost forgot , it is a gated community so there is Private Security 24hrs a day, 7 days a week. A great place to live! Thanks for your interest!
