I would do anything for a job in Tijuana!

It is more likely that you will have to cross the border everyday for work. There are not many entry level jobs near the border these days, and I will probably be packing up and moving soon!

Love it here but its a hard place to make a living.

i prefer vuze for windows or transmission for mac for simple music downloading on the quick the new limewire is the way to go!! ive heard or know of some security issues with utorrent and the riaa but your im mexico already!!! tongue.gif  i would go with vuze just my 2 cents worth

Well utorrent was bought up/merged with the official torrent client. and he started workign with RIAA...

and some torrent sites do give this warning:

"It has been determined that utorrent 1.7 and upwards has a bug that reports your stats incorrectly and it reports private info outside of the tracker.

We advise anyone using these versions to downgrade back to uTorrent 1.6.1. Anybody using 1.7 or above does so at their own risk and will not be given any user support.
To downgrade, stop utorrent, and download uTorrent 1.6.1 (Build 490) and save it in place of your existing utorrent.exe file. Download uTorrent 1.6.1"

Hi, thanks for this information.  It is a bit strange that u Torrent was chugging along normally for years and then all of a sudden there are rumors of a back-door deal with the RIAA..  huh..  I am a little bit skeptical of the details,
but all in all,
this doesn't affect me too much.

there was a discussion at the official forums here:

this thread is interesting -- the OP claims to have downloaded ALL music from before the begginning of recorded music up to the year 2004!!

LOL!!! unless i misread something, that is hilarious!!  I have filled up a terabyte before - but I can't imagine I even cracked the 1% mark of recorded music!!!

To linux ray-  i have really only used bittorent since around 2002 or 2003...
I use the app utorrent, http://utorrent.com/download.php (looks like you can run it in linux with WINE)
and search sites like
mininova.org
isohunt.com
or the pirate bay

if you are new to torrents, when you are at a torrent indexing site like the three I mentioned above, you will see a list of torrents available.  The best files and most reliable downloads will be the torrents with the most seeders AND leechers.  Both numbers really high will make for a really fast download.
when select a torrent file you like you have to download a file in the .torrent format.  If you already have a program like utorrent installed, it is best just to click open with utorrent and set that as your default, as utorrent will keep track of the .torrent file for you from that point on - if you pause or shut down your computer - whatever.  Utorrent uses the info in the .torrent file to retreive the files it lists for other seeders and leechers.  the .torrent file is a small file less than 1MB that keeps track of the files you are requesting and the possible routes it can take to get them.  Utorrent reads this information and does the rest (connects you to peers) etc.
