What are the hours here? Besides TGIF, never had BBQ in TJ before.
Thanks for the recommendation.

I have eaten at this place a minimum of 100 times.  I normally eat around 6pm when eating here, simply because the mariachis annoy me, but on occasion later when I am with a guest will eat around 8pm.  The mariachi's are playing at that hour for sure.  The menu is quite diverse where you can get a nice Mexican dish or a Filet Mignon with a baked potato, which is not so easy to find in Tijuana.   On a hot summer day I will order a pitcher of lemonade.  Sometimes I may take a date in around midnight or so when it is slow and have Luis play for us while we eat.  He will play for $4 per song and is quite talented with romantic songs in Spanish or songs from the Beatles or Eagles. Luis is available to hire for your house party or event and speaks both languages well.  I actually first met him in a restaurant in Zona Rio in 2000.

I'm a simple guy and normally will order shrimp burritos, or enchiladas.  With most meals they offer a papa y queso caldo....potato and cheese soup.....and it is to die for.  I have on occasion ordered fried shrimp with a side of a baked potato to go.  Silly as it may seem you can never get a shrimp sauce in a local restaurant and I buy a bottle in the US and keep it in my fridge at home.

On a side note: I am very curious about your username. I am not completely fluent in Spanish, but I am pretty sure Marido is husband. So either you are and Jose are a gay couple (which is fine), or one of us is confused about the meaning of the word (probably me). Whatever the case me be, Welcome to the site!  smile.gif

Yes I was thinking the same and I figured that poster is a she and she meant Marida?

I have been here 12 years and just cross back and forth at least 3 times a month.  Someone will probably come on later with a better answer....maybe if you raise some hell they will deport your husband to the US. smile.gif

I also live in Altamira and i know exactly the place your talking about actually that place is one of the original POBLANO tacos in the city, its been there since the early 70s but they can be really good or really bad , you need a "Black belt taco gobbler" like my self to give you a few tips. first go there at night never in the morning or evening cause there's different "taqueros" i mean the dude that makes the tacos, Second..NEVER order a taco from the chubby lady! she will give you the most discusting taco you ever had ... I personally know the late night guy and he dose NOT mess around with me...lol Third, don't get the same type of tortillas that the regular joe gets with a carne asada taco ask to get the yellow corn hand made soft tortilla ,and also YOU select the best cut of meat from the grill depending on your taste like if you prefer well done or medium rare steak or like me i prefer the juicer cuts of beef, and give him a tip to remember you by... trust me the next time you visit he will make those tacos HUGE! there's a saying among us locals here that says..."Un buen taco es aquel que no cierra" translation " A good taco is that one that is not able to fold"..smile.gif

I can walk to that stand from my home. It never has clients....no mystery to me why they have no business. Glad you found a way to enjoy the place.

When I go to Las Vegas...I want to be the only one at the Black Jack table, however when eating tacos, I eat at the places that have 25 or 30 people standing around the cart. smile.gif
