#28499 Buen dia!

Hello, my name is Domenic and I plan on moving to Tijuana sometime after April 2014 (when my lease is up in San Diego).  I am engaged to a lovely citizen of Mexico who lives south of the Otay POE and works in Zona Rio.  I spend just about every weekend there; she has a BCC visa and can cross into the U.S. freely.  I love Mexico's food and the culture.  I was a Navy brat and lived in entirely outside of the states prior to my 16th birthday, so international living is not new to me.

The company I work for is based in Houston, Texas, but I am a remote employee by myself in California.  I travel a lot, so I know I'll have to cross the border to get to the San Diego airport (Lindbergh Field).  In fact, I work from home when I am not traveling.

I do have some questions and living and working (from home) in TJ...

-Even though I work for a U.S.-based company (not conducting business in Mexico) and would be working from home (in TJ, like I do in California), am I subject to Mexican taxation?  Because, really, I'm doing my job in Mexico for no other reason other than in a spare room with an Internet connection.

-We are getting married in January, and I would like to live in TJ (to rent a home, not purchase a home) for about a year... Do I need a FM3 visa?  Something to note, I don't intend to bank with any Mexican institutions.  I like my two American banks.  I can do what I need without stepping foot in a branch (haven't done so since 2004).

-U.S. taxation laws:  I know that U.S. citizens are subject to taxes worldwide, regardless of foreign residency (with exceptions to service members in combat zones).  So, I know I'll still have to file federal income taxes every year with a 2-month extension.  My question to this situation, would I have to pay any state taxes even if I were to have a California-based U.S. Postal Service post office box to receive my mail?

-My car:  I have Mexican auto insurance already (Qualitas).  But do I need to register my car and get Baja plates?  Mind you, it has Alaska plates and I always get weird looks and questions from CBP agents at both San Ysidro and Otay Mesa POEs.

I apologize if this should be in a different thread.  I'm currently in Indonesia on business and the Internet is slooooooooooooow.  I just wanted to get my message and questions out there.  Thanks so much in advance for help that anyone can provide!
