Suggestions on Learning Spanish

05 July 2013 - 06:14 AM

I just moved to Playas.

I am really working hard at learning Spanish. I have books, software and lots more. I practice everyday, but am reluctant to try it out with a real Spanish speaker, due to lack of confidence.

Every time I try some phrases, people feel so sorry for me, they immediately break into English.

The only practice I got was a wrong number on my new Mexican Phone number. Again the lady detected I was not a native and began speaking perfect English.

The security guard helps me every day, But I really need more.

Suggestions?

Any schools in Playas?

Thanks in advance.

Veterinarian and dog groomer in Playas?

05 July 2013 - 06:05 AM

I am here in Playas. I would like to find a vet close by so that I can take my dog in for regular checkups and good care. She is old and I want to keep her as healthy as possible. is anyone familiar with the Playas Vet Clinic (Dr. Fimbres)? I found a couple of others.

I am open to suggestions and comments if there is another. It must be in Playas. I am on bicycle and my dog rides in the nice dog basket. She enjoys it and it is safe. I have a 3-wheel bike.

Thank you

Directions to Otay Ready Lane

28 June 2013 - 06:08 AM

I'm wondering if anyone would help me get to the Ready Lane in Otay?

Possibly just a list of the streets and right turn or left turn after each

I've been studying google and Map Quest for hours, and I got some good directions off websites, I made it there once but it would be nice to just have a list of the streets handy. With all the construction, I just want to get it right.

Perhaps just a list right after the three-way division:

Tecate/TJ----Regular San Diego (to get to the regular San Ysidro cross) and Col. Fed lane.

I know I stay in the Tecate lane, but after that I want to have a correct list of the streets.

Thanks in advance for any assistance.

Bring it over or start anew? Best guess on 'inspection' fees & perro paperw...

26 June 2013 - 07:39 PM

Making the big move to Playas Monday or Tuesday

I found some guys to move my stuff (cheap)

I have the following:

old fridge

stackable washer/dryer

queen size bed

spin bike

ab machine

3-wheel rusty bike

boxes of personal items (cooking, clothes etc. . . )

The movers are charging $250. But I have no clue what the inspection fees will be. I hear it all depends (I am a wide-eyed gringo, so?) any suggestions/comments or words for the 'wise' would be greatly appreciated.

If you cannot afford 'inspection' fees at the Mexican border gate, do they confiscate your things, or?

I have a dog that will be accompaning me. I read where you must show that pets are current on their shots, and there may be a fee. Any words from experience?

muchas gracias mis amigos y amigas,

Moving your stuff back from TJ to US?

24 June 2013 - 11:42 AM

Once you move all your stuff into Mexico, can you move it back into the US without taxes, duty or hassel?
