Electric runs about $50 per month more or less...
Water is about $20-$25 per month...
Gas in tanks is about $35 and lasts me about 5-6 weeks...
So roughly... $450-$600 per month in necessities
If you want cable, internet, house phone... you can bump it up about $100 more. Food is about the same on both sides of the border, but I do find that produce is a little less expensive in Mexico...
Like Ronin says... if you are currently living in SD... you will be saving money if you move to TJ... the down side is the commute across the border.

I was personally appauled when I saw the blatant infraction. I mean, kids are starving all over TJ and here a well to do self proclaimed saver of lives can't find it in his heart to spot the 5 pesos parking fee. No doubt, after having indulged in the high end amenities of the Cinepolis VIP. Indeed, nothing is sacred. Think about the children, man. Dios mios.

a motorcycle is the only way to commute across the border just ask any ICE agent, and parking at Plaza Rio... I tried to pay, but they won't take my money... they tell me to go around... I guess I should find some little indian lady with 6 kids and give her my parking fee.
Talk about hijacking a thread
I did get a laugh out of it though
... now if you'll excuse me, I have to go get on my motorcycle and ride like the wind home to Tijuana... Hasta Maņana...

You can get them for around 500 bucks and save at least 5 to 10 hours a week in waiting time.

I don't advocate scooters, but if crossing the border is all you will use it for then, I think it is well worth the cost... every minute I save not being in the cursed line is like gold to me...

Great inexpensive transportation bike or for cruising the back country. Reliable 1982 Yamaha XJ750J Maxim. Candy Red. 20,150 miles. $1050.
Original. Very comfortable. Starts, runs, drives and brakes great. Great fuel economy. New battery. Everything works. Fast. No smoke. Motor/trans do not leak. Good brakes: dual disk fronts. Tight chain & good sprockets. Recent air filter and oil.
750 cc DOHC inline four. Air cooled. Five-speed trans. Dual front disc brakes.
It has an almost perfect tank and excellent seat, and very good trim.
Negatives: Needs tires. Some light chrome rust. Some oxidization on the aluminum.
this is in or around El Cajon
