Any thoughts or experiecnces are appreciated. I don't speak Spanish and would prefer to stay close to the border as my only experience in mexico was camping there 10years ago. Thanks in advance!

Dr. Mendiola is an oral surgeon who also does general denitsty. He speaks English very well. I've been very happy with both his work and his prices.
She's a member of the American Dental Association (ADA) and and takes continuing education classes in the US. She has computerized equipment that seems very up to date.
Her English is limited, but I think it is sufficient to work on a non-Spanish speaking patient. Be that as if may, Amy, her assistant, speaks excellent English so there shouldn't be any communications problem.
Here's her contact information:
Dra. Claudia Lopez A.
Ixalia Building Suite 507
Javier Mina 1571
Zona Rio CP 22320
Tijuana, BC, Mexico

Javier Mina is across the street on the north side of Cultural Center. The Ixpalia building is between Paseo de los Heroes and the Via Rapida, close the (north) parking lot for the Cultural Center.
Sadly, I've needed a couple of root canals this year (2011). She's charged me--depending on the complexity of what is needed--between $160.00 and $200.00 per root canal. (The $200.00 charge was for taking off an existing crown and doing some oral surgery. I was glad she was able to save enough of the tooth to get a new crown. It took two visits to complete the work.)
Dr. Mendiola has charged me $225.00 per crown.

Went to the Denticenter about 7 or 8 years ago. Wasn´t real satisfied with their work. They filled 3 cavities with the old-style silver filings. When the anesthetic wore off about 6 hours later, the filling on one tooth was way too high and my mouth wouldn´t shut properly.
Called them and told them of the problem and of course they said to return. Before I went back, one of the other fillings fell out. Most of my tooth had been drilled away and the filling couldn´t hold.
The tooth probably needed a crown but I just told the dentist that bonding would hold better than a silver filling. She said "Okay" and did what I suggested. Scary since I have no dental experience.
The oversized filling was filed down and the bonding has since held but I wouldn´t go back to Denticenter.
I get the impression that the dentists are, for the most part, just out of dental school, with little or no professional experience. And while cheap by U.S. standards, the prices are higher than that charged by many experienced Tijuana dentists or specialists.
Not surprising since they cater to the English-speaking American crowd looking for a presumed bargain.
