Hi there, My husband and I are planning to move to Otay in this upcoming year 2011 and we are wanting to know how much rent usually is for a 2 bdrm apartment or house...would anyone who lives there or know be able to let us know... we are starting to make plans.

I have lived here for over 5 years and have seen rent from $375.00 to 800.00 depending on how you want to live. Rent has come down around 20-30 percent in the Otay area since a few years ago.

Otay is a large area that runs the gunlet from a dirt floored shack to the mansion of Eduardo Arellano Félix in Jardines del Pedregal.

I guess we're leaning towards the 300 side...He thinks its going to be less because he once rented a 2 bdrm in Mexicali for $100 a month...

Otay is no mexicali when it comes to rent. You will find some 300 dollars places but they will be smaller places or in bad areas.

My mother inlaw is renting a nice 2 bedroom apartment in Otay Constituyentes for $350/month. I think she could have gotten in cheaper had she tried to negotiate. There's no secure parking, though (fine for her, since she doesn't drive).

How far is Playas from the border? I would like to one day move there, Ive been looking on craigs list and there are many listed for rent in Playas.... one day!

About 10 mins on a good day. On a bad day...... far!
