Dr. Marco Antonio Bogarin, Outstanding Dentist in Centro Options

I have been with this dentist for 10 years. He does superb work. Dental insurance is virtually worthless in the USA, regardless of what insurance agents say. The coverage is garbage compared to what you pay for your premium, especially if you have something serious like a crown, root canal, bridge etc.

I have had fillings replaced, a crown put in, cleanings, xrays, etc and the work has been superb. The Dr.'s name is Marco Antonio Bogarin and has an office in Centro on Revolution in between 9th and 10th on the West side of the street. The office is in a small retail spot that has a coffee shop and an auto shop close by. It is across the street from a Calimax. You have to go to a glass door right next to the coffee shop and go up the stairs. You will see his office on the second floor.

Costs for service that I know were as follows:

Filling replacement: $60 each
Crown with metal base: $220(included cleaning)
Basic cleaning and xray: $30

The guy is one of the friendliest and nicest guys I have met in any walk of life and speaks fluent English. You can do walk-ins but you might have to wait a couple hours and come back or just wait and have them call you when there is availability. I prefer going early in the morning or late in the day(6pm or so) as that is when he is less busy. The guy has a lobby full of gringos and locals constantly and it is because he does good work.
He specializes in dental implants and used to teach a course on the subject at local dental colleges.

I Agree George!
In fact, I am in the market for one right now.
I am still deciding between the other one that was mentioned in previous posts, I believe that it was called Washington Dental, or Dr. Bogarin, or another one that I will mention to the Blog if it turns out to be recommendable.
I used to be a stickler for only using US Dentists but I have since changed my mind, especially with todays economy. I like that Dr. Bogarin speaks English as I usually have alot of questions and I can express myself much better in English.

I'm wondering if anyone else used this dentist since blazer's recommendation? What was your experience? I wonder if the location, amid adult entertainment, is something to be weary of, both in terms of personal safety and what it says about the dentist?

I need several crowns and veneers. I've been to two TJ dentists so far with disappointing results: One tried to sell me a service I didn't need, and as I realized later uses misleading info on his web sites. Another turned out to be very error-prone. Both were pricey by TJ standards.

By the way, what is a safe way to pay a dentist? I found that they offer 10% off, if you are not paying with a credit card, i.e. use cash, certified check, traveler's check or debit.

Like Blazers, I am very happy with the dentists I’ve seen in Tijuana. So are others. Prices are similar, although Dr. Mediola charged me less ($40.00 for a filling.

Dr. Mendiola is an oral surgeon who also does general dentistry. He speaks English very well. I've been very happy with both his work and his prices.

Javier Mina is across the street on the north side of Cultural Center. The Ixpalia building is between Paseo de los Heroes and the Via Rapida, close the (north) parking lot for the Cultural Center.

This woman specializes in root canals. She speaks English and has state of the art equipment. I'm told she is good and very gentle.

I sent a friend to her because his US dentist wanted to extract a tooth. She scheduled a series of visits and (together with antibiotics) saved the tooth.

I'm very impressed with her work.

Everyone I know pays in cash.

At $30.00 for a cleaning, $40.00 for a filling, etc. it doesn't appear there is any room for a cash discount. Especially since paying in cash is already the norm in Tijuana.
