Late Saturday afternoon Rosarito police were called by a concerned citizen who witnessed an extreme case of animal abuse on the beach. The animal was a pit bull - obviously a "fighting" dog who was being strength-tolerance "trained." The dog tired and the owner got mad - mad enough that he ripped out the dog's tongue.

The dog is being cared for by an experienced and well-known MVZ. Amazingly, the dog is doing quite well. He is a massive and gorgeous boy dog whose real personality is sweet - he's loves to be petted and scratched. He will have to learn to "suck" his water, but he's already trying and everyone involved is very hopeful.

It is my understanding that even though there are animal abuse laws here in MX, they are rarely enforced. The person involved will be prosecuted - likely the first.

Just please all you dog lovers out there - don't let this get shoved under the carpet - spread the word - animal abuse will not be tolerated.

Tears,
RR

wow! That's horrible! At first I thought you were going to say that the strength training was the abuse and I was thinking, plenty of people strength train pit bulls. It's good exercise for them. But ripping out a tongue is inexcusable.
Tijuaneses Americans in TJ drive like crap, Get your Mexican Insurance here.

I am going to post some follow-up on this situation as soon as I can. Good things are coming out of this tragedy, thank goodness.

Yes, I would say that is proof that you are sure!

That is horrible and someone should rip that idiots tongue out, and I am being 100% serious. There is no reason for that and a person who has the capability to do something like this has no business walking the streets and should be shot on the spot!

The loser that did this is a 20-year-old from TJ. He spent 36 hours in jail (maximum "penalty") and was released. Supposedly, he told the arresting officers that he is a drug addict; as such he could not remember the incident. Also, supposedly, he has gone to a rehabilitation center and I understand he expects to get his dog back. Efforts are underway to enact "Muneco's Law," which would provide for serious consequences to people who do such heinous things to animals. As far as getting his dog back - well, let's just say NOT. angry.gif angry.gif angry.gif angry.gif

Ditto on that - I suspect an attempt at flippancy?

I don't know why somebody would mention Detroit either.I made sure to post this article on myspace blog and posted several bulletins about this barbarian. It really bothers me that this guy only served 36 hours jail time. However, the US needs to give stiffer sentences also, I cannot count the cases I've heard about where some jerk gets probation or community service.
