I took the drive down to Puerto Nuevo for lobster last weekend and I couldn't believe how dead it was. It was a beautiful day MLK weekend and there was no one there...the parkig lots were empty and the restuarants were too. I've never seen it so dead in my entire life I couldn't believe it....

Someone posted the same thing a few months back very few people and higher prices. A friend from work took her family there a couple weeks ago and she said she paid close to 50 percent more than a few years ago.

Dude, $14? Where did you eat? We got one and half small lobsters for 19 and the large (medium) were $22 priced very high in my opinion... I was happy with the less crowds the food was good no onewas inthe place so we got to throw on NFL playoffs and watch both games....I started getting the meseros into NFL...

We went down to Puerto Nuevo after the bike ride 2 weeks ago the parking lots were filled with dirt and at least half the resturants weren't even open. We ending up eating at Puerto Nuevo 2 because our other first 3 choices were closed....we were 1 of 2 tables....I couldn't believe that it could be emptier than the last time we were there..especially on the day of the ride...I hope the town survives...

My wife's sister works in a restaurant they were open all day Monday because its been so slow trying to pickup some new customers and nobody came in!
First it was the tourist because of crime and passports.
Now the Mexicans are staying home, because of the flu,
OUCH.

This flu back is really causing havoc. Even the peso is starting to lose the ground it gained of late...

Haven't been there in a long time. Are prices still good?????? Such a shame it use to be a great place to visit. I notice the Popotla is always crowded. Cars everywhere. Only went there once and wasn't impressed.

I used to go there a lot with friends but not much lately. It really lost a lot of its old charm and it has gotten a lot more expensive than it used to be. There are lots of smaller places with charm, good service and better prices to be found...

I remember visiting 8-9 years ago and it was hard to find available seating. I think since 9/11 many places south of the border went south. Last time I was there many of the places were closed.

Actually the area remained pretty busy until the recent tourism slump due to violence / economy / flu. Choose whichever reason you like...

That's too bad it was a nice escape from Tijuana and a fun drive. Do you think they will survive for another round?

I suspect they will, but with a few less players around once the dust settles. Wouldn't be surprised if it returns a bit to its roots of being a quiet little stop with cheap lobster, cold margaritas and off key Mariachis...
