When it comes to Tourism Rosarito has been on the decline for the past few years. I know 2 or 3 years ago they had a nice boom because of the housing market and many people invested in new projects that now regret making those investments.

I moved to Rosarito a while back because A couple I know purchased a condo there and raved about Rosarito. They still have the condo and visit every other weekend. They're semi-retired and had the opportunity to move to Florida for half the price but without the spice of living and they looked into places on the coast here in the states at 3-4 times the price. They purchased a condo for around 300k and kept the rest in the bank and in investments.

I've heard you can get good deals on rentals in the "gringo communities." And locals from Tijuana are moving into those communities because they are cheaper than Tijuana rentals.

Rosarito is hurting more than Tijuana right now. I know that the Rosarito Beach hotel is giving away rooms compared to their check in rates. A friend of mine who lives down there tells me whenever police stop by to eat tacos or what have you most of the customers pay their tab and exit with the quickness.

An awakening to me... Cops frequent this b'fast, sandwich place near me daily and I always felt safe, just not wanting them to take an interest in me. Never thought of some drug gang zeroing in on them, but they look to be more of the traffic policia type that I see around here than the gang police but who knows. Thanks for the heads up.

I see more for rent signs than I've seen in years in Rosarito. Your right tourism must be at an all time low now. Last month I saw two ocean front properties rent for 600 to 800 dollars. Normally ocean side homes rent for at least 1k. I mean ones right on the beach not the ones with a view of the ocean.

Rent is a lot cheaper in Rosarito, My friend just moved down there and is paying around 500 dollars a month for a place on the beach. His landlord was renting it out for 800 the year before and he negotiated the rent in pesos so he is getting a steal now.

Not just in Roarito but here in Tijuana too. I see more for rent signs now and a couple of Americans I knew that lived close by have moved back to the states.
