The reason I'm moving to Tj because I really cant afford to live in San Diego. I'm will be attending school to go into the veterinary field and hopefully I can move up the ladder to become a vet tech.
The neighborhood is 5 de mayo&articulo which is pretty close to the border

I will be renting a small place with a queen size bed,2 burner stove, and a mini fridge. It's not exactly a giant palace, but it's great for somebody like me who isn't married etc.I just need a quiet place where I can concentrate on my studies and be left alone.
Can you suggest where I would go to buy a refrigerator?? I've seen a few stores that carry appliances, but I'm not sure where I should go.

You are one person in a small cozy? apt. with a mini-fridge and trying to save $$$?
And you want to buy a big fridge? Why? More electric bill, more food buying sprees to shove in the fridge because you were hungry at the supermarket and then forget about. Mini-fridges (albeit good ones) are great; you don't waste food by saving it (eat it or toss it) and you save on electric bill.
Vacuums in nature always want to get filled up..., look at Black Holes.
No one here on the blog buys electrical items in TJ that I know of. Talk to neighbors tho and become friends for other info as well. I think I would have moved back to SD except for the great neighbors here.

How familiar are you to this neighborhood (it's called Zona Norte) ? The good part about it for many is being in or near Centro.
The negative part is that this section has more than it's share of drugs, homelessness, prostitution, and vehicle traffic.
Unless one doesn't mind (or enjoys such things), there are many other optional areas closer or almost as close to the border crossing.
Also, how much rent they charging you and how goes your Spanish ?

I want a bigger fridge because I enjoy being able to stock up on certain items i.e. meat, certain dairy products, and have room for leftovers.
I can't say that I'm really all that familiar with Zona Norte, but I did do a little bit of exploring in the area.It may not be a glamorous area, but I'm gonna make it work one way or the other.

I strongly suggest you work on the landlord/lady nicely and maybe offer an incentive of $25/50 as a one time shot. Think it is better alternative than paying out $300 bucks for a fridge now and then having to pay to move it over the next 10-15 years.
Buying in bulk at like Costco is good and I like to have a variety to choose from each night too but I will eat something one day and won't even think about eating the same for two weeks. Gee, I wonder if that two week old pizza is green and fuzzy by now?

I decided to not bother fooling with the fridge, because I have more important things to worry about.I am content with my situation and I'll just deal with things little by little.
