In Topic: 6 Month Mark of Living in TJ

23 December 2014 - 09:46 AM

December just hit 5 year mark living in TJ..........yahoo!

Well I cross 6 days a week but I walk across for 5 of those days and take the trolley downtown.  Walking across is the same old situation with sentri just cut the line up front.  I normally cross Sunday afternoons to go shopping and it can take 20 to 40 mins in Sentri car lane to cross.  I think there have been improvements since the middle of 2014 with opening up some of the normal and ready lanes at SY.

Thanks for the advice.  Funny thing I just arrived in Vegas Sunday night and will return to TJ this Friday.  Still love Vegas.  I have been staying at Sams Town off Boulder Hwy the past 3 or so years.  Love it.  Rooms are cheap and they have 20X odds on craps.  They treat us low rollers like high rollers.

Don't plan on any Mexico vacations until later next year.  I really need to improve my Spanish.

I can't believe it will be five years next month living in TJ.  Time has flown by really quick.  I would not change anything.  Walking across the border and taking the trolley to work downtown works great.  I love my lifestyle in TJ.  The low rent allows me to allocate more money into retirement investing so hopefully I can retire earlier than normal.  I am hoping once the SY border crossing construction and new ped crossing entrance into TJ are finalized then crossing the border will be much easier.  For the bad rap and all the shocked faces I see when I say I live in TJ..............if they only knew.  Granted TJ is not for everyone but it works just fine for me.

Once you report a passport card or passport book lost or stolen via DS-64 you will not be able to use it again.  So if you think you miss placed it and may find it in the future I would not report it via DS-64.

I had my passport card stolen from my place but I never reported it since I did not realize I had too.  When I was getting ready to re-new my passport you have to start from scratch if you can not return back to them your passport card and book so I had to do DS-11 and DS-64.  You pay the $25 fee then the additional cost for the passport card and book.  If you can return both card and book then you skip the $25 fee and fill out a different form.
