Hi everyone!! My name is Melissa.  I'm currently in Mesa, AZ but right around September or so, Myself and my Boyfriend are going to be making the move to Tijuana.  I've been reading alot of your posts and it seems like all the bad stuff that we all hear about TJ is all concentrated in one area.  I'm planing on finding a place in Playas de Tijuana.  Is that an ok area?  Seems pretty calm from what i have been reading.  I'm so excited about his move and it's nice to meet y'all!! Hopefully you guys can help me if I have some questions.

I do have one question that I haven't been able to find an asnswer to, short of going to the Consulado and waiting in line for like 3 hours LOL.  I am a US Citizen, my Boyfriend is a Guatemalan Citizen...If our children are born in Mexico...what nationality do they take?  Is there such thing as Tri Citizenship?  I read that as long as I report the birth to the Embassy they take on my Citizenship.  Kinda weird LOL but just something I been wondering about.

There are a lot of nice areas in Tijuana. Some parts of Playas are decent others I would not care to venture in

man, I was almost blinded when I first arrived on the page and was greeted by your beautiful purple writing! haha! I just wasn't expecting it! Keep on surfing the Posts and I am pretty sure that you will find answers to any questions that you may have! You can always post them too and usually get a quick responce.

Good Luck with the Move. It is adorable that you are excited, it is fun to move to a new place with a boyfriend or Hubby. It is an adventure and kinda like you and he against the World, huh.
I do not think that all the " Bad Stuff " is necessarily concentrated in One area of Tijuana, but I know that you will find that there are nice areas, and plenty opportunity for a Calm life if that is what you desire.

But you can go to the Consulado, and get a Report of a Child Born Abroad. That will make the child a U.S. Citizen. Meaning he/she will be both Mexican/America. I don't know about Tri-Citizenship, but you can ask.

My son was born in Jalisco, and we went to the Consulado in TJ, and he because a U.S. Citizen when he was only 4 months old. It is easy, you can do it yourself. And the child becomes a Citizen that very same day.

Buen Amigo, I am just curious what the fee was to to that? Are both you and your wife US citizens? I plan to have the baby in the US, but as you know, giving birth can be unpredictable and maybe I won't make it across in time. Anyway, I had heard it could be more complicated for me since my husband is not a citizen/resident.

I am a U.S. Citizen, my wife is not, she is not even a resident. That is why we are living in TJ. I think total i spent no more than 250 bucks.....Cuz i applied for his passport at that same time, and what ever other fees we had to pay......

Playas is a nice place to live, but the traffic can be bad when there is an event at the monumental (bull ring). Fortunately a second way out of town is under way at the south end and soon there will be a toll road from Playas to the US border as well. Playas tends to be quieter and the police are more organized due to the small area to cover.

Regarding citizenship of children, remember you must register the birth of the child with the US Consulate to get them full benefits of a US citizen.
