The ones with newer cars are screwed. Even ten years ago.. if I was in the right, I'd keep on moving as if the other car never existed. 99% of the times, they'd back off. Only once did I encounter a car that was crapper than mine... and he just wouldn't budge so I caved in.

Yeah i know what you mean. I hate that. I am agressive when in TJ. And i wont budge, unless the other car is crappy. Then i know the other person does not care.

Last night, I thought I would cross the border to Vons and buy some food for next week. I do this at night so I don't have to sit in a long line to get back to TJ. 9:30pm crossed in my car via Sentri only took 5 minutes. Did my shopping and got back on 5 South. 10:30pm the traffic was really backed up at the SY crossing. It took me 70 minutes to cross back over. I entered TJ at 11:40pm..........what a joke. About a 100 yards before the SY crossing the US agents have funnled all the cars into 2 lanes but there were 7 or 8 lanes open to cross into Mexico. This makes no sense to me as why the US agents would funnel all the cars into 2 lanes becuase there was no accident and they were not checking cars. I am so angry and dumbfounded as to what is going on with this and I blame the US. At first I thought the delay was because Mexico was using the drop down gates to get into TJ but when I crossed they were not.

Where do we complain?

I have a Sentri appointment today for my new car so I crossed it last night via the normal lanes at 9pm and it only took 20 minutes. Crossed back to TJ on foot after 10pm. Before any bus crosses the border to TJ they are inspected by US agents. Last night walking by the buses as I enter TJ was the first time I have seen them have people pulled off the buses with zip ties on their wrists. There was about 8 or 9 guys like this. I assume illegals heading home for the holidays.

I didn't see this post before but I think I might have been sitting in that same traffic. It was rediculas. To top it off, as I finally get up to the agents, the lane next to me was completely stopped while they searched a car. Couldn't they pull that car off to the side??? One of those 6 lanes that they closed off would have been great!

On another note. I noticed they have little signs direct pedistrian traffic today. Senti has it's own turnstile which means a few less dirty looks from people waiting in line.

Yes the Ped signs have been there about a month and they have them inside the customs building as well.

Well I successfully added my car to Sentri so now I can unload the old car to my sister. Adding a second car to Sentri should have taken about 5 or 10 minutes but it took an hour of sitting around that office. At one point I was sitting down by the cashier window. They have a sign saying when you pull your car up for the agent open the hood, trunk, all car doors and have your windows rolled up. All I could think of was Buen Amigo having his windows rolled down trying to hide the tint laugh.gif

Cool. Now you are one of us. Yeah even though you may be the only one in the office, it still takes about an hour. I don't know why. They aint doing anything. O yeah. It's the government.

The SY crossing was a mess this morning. I was going to cross to take care of few things but the via rapida was backed up as far as I could see around 9am. I have to cross Sunday so I am thinking to just cross my car tonight so I don't have to deal with that mess in the morning and walk thru ped sentri in the morning. I think the Mexican employees recieved their two week Christmas bonus on Friday so everyone was probably crossing to buy stuff. Right now at 3pm the via rapida is back to normal.

i CROSSED Saturday morning to deposit some money into my bank. I didn't want to cross in the car because sometimes to get back in TJ on Saturday mornings can be a nightmare. I i just parked my car, crossed via sentri ped lane (like the rotating door they have for us by the way), crossed in about 30 seconds. The regular ped lane went on it seemed like forever. It went all the way past under the bridge and wrapped around, i could not see the end.

So i crossed, deposited my check, strolled over to IHOP, Had some breakfast, and walked back into TJ, in my car, and back home. Yeah i spent about 2 hours, but it was a nice saturday morning stroll, with no traffic, no headaches, not rushing, got some excersize. And since my wife is in Jalisco right now, i can pretty much wander the streets.

This morning there was no line! Ped, reg, or Sentri. Avenida Internacional was flooded so if you are headed from Playas or Soler you should go via el centro. San Diego freeways all suck this morning.

DAMN, that's a good way to ruin your day. Go and buy a nice dinner (or if you have the skills cook one), should earn you some good brownie points.

Crossed last night around 9:45pm to SD via Sentri to go to Vons. Once I crossed I looked over and I did not see any traffic going into TJ so I was happy to run to the store and get back home quickly. 10:40pm I hit a line of traffic on 5 crossing back into TJ. Around 11:20 finally made it across. A pickup was sitting sideways in one of the crossing stalls crushed like a beer can. I assume the person fell asleep or was drunk and flipped that truck several times to land sideways midway into the stall. I am sure whoever was in that truck is not alive. There was about 20 policia there. Once you crossed you were directed to go through revision since they closed the normal lanes. Pretty scary stuff.

Here is a vid of the accident I was talking about seeing on the night of the 30th. You can see what appears to be the driver hanging from the driver side door.

Since we moved down to the new place outside San Quintin I cross the border a lot less now. A couple of months ago my Sentri came up for renewal and I just decided to let it expire. Why? As I am usually headed to the San Joaquin Valley or Central California coast, it makes sense to cross around 1:00 AM and that way there is no line and I will miss all the traffic in San Diego / Orange / LA.

It has worked out very well so far...
