My dad brought up this suggestion 40 years ago and I think it still makes sense. Charge a quarter to enter Tijuana and use the money to improve the roads.

So the commute back to TJ must have been fun last night in the car. They were doing a checkpoint with only 3 lanes for cars to go thru. The check point was prior to crossing the border into TJ. Crossed on foot around 7:15pm.

dont tell me that. I have been staying here at my parents house on the U.S side. But today i am going to go to TJ just to check on the house. I hope there is no checkpoint.....

No check point last night or at least not around 7pm when I crossed back to TJ.

The U.S. They stop traffic about at the 500 foot mark, and sometimes just wave you by, but stop certain vehicles......don't know how they choose whoto stop and who not to stop.

So it was my lucky night Friday night at 10pm. Crossed in my car using Sentri and was picked to go to secondary. I had never been to secondary inspection before but it only took about 20 minutes to get through it. I made it to the store just in time to buy my stuff and head back to TJ. Entering TJ I got the red light and had to go through that inspection. I got home and said maybe I will stay home tonight

The Sentri car lane was backed up on the via Rapida. I was luckly and squeezed in around Plaza Pueblo amigo. I was thinking I was going to miss my doctors appointment. The Ped line was very small which surprised me since the car line was so jacked up. The car ahead of me was sent to secondary........thank god it was not me again or I really would have missed my appointment. I assume they track how often you get sent to secondary since I was just thru secondary last week.

Most of the people who cross to get to work/school still had to go to work/school today. Getting there was easy, getting across was standard (for me).

If you don't mind my asking... When Aduana stopped you, what did you buy that day? Did they try to tax you?

Last Friday night 10pm I was randomly picked to go to secondary when I was crossing via Sentri. I had handed my Sentri card to the agent and she said it is your luckly day beucase you are going to secondary. I had nothing in my car and it only took 20 minutes to get through secondary. On the way back from shopping at Vons I got the red light going into TJ. They just looked in my trunk and waved me through so no big deal. No taxes.

Going back into TJ one afternoon there was a truck in front of me, we were in the middle lanes. He had something in the back, but i could not tell since he had a bed cover on the truck. He got the red light, i got the red light as well, So we make our way to inspection but on the left side. He stepped out of the truck, and was talking to the officer, but i could not make out what they were arguing. In the end he go in his truck, and the officer walked over to the gate on the left side that slides open, and he drove through that gat, basically getting in line but to cross back into the U.S.

I am wondering why is that? Maybe he had to declare something, why didn't they just make him move over to the right and go to the Aduana? I don't know

Just guessing but he probably told him he had to cross at Otay but who knows. I have seen plenty of trucks carrying crap in the back like beds etc cross at SY.

The only reason they would send him back to the US is because he had something that could not cross into MEXICO period. It could be used clothing that he could not prove was his (maybe womens, kids clothing and no one to claim it in the truck). Used tires, some type of wood etc. I've been sent back to the US because of tires I was going to replace and balance in TJ (much cheaper) and clothing the belongs to relatives that I forgot was in the back. OR he could of just pissed him off. I had that done to. Officer said I pulled into the inspection area to fast (BLAH, BLAH, BLAH) and was being a jerk; he asked for registration, license and how I could prove the truck was mine and I was like "the reg. is under my name and it matches my license, he said SO. Then he asked me how I could prove I was a US citizen in order to driver my US plated truck into Mexico and I showed him my SENTRY. He said this isnt good enough you need to show me a PASSPORT. I didnt have it on me and he send me back after theathening me to inpound my truck. I normally carry my passport too, but didnt have it that day. I wish I did so I could of just laughed at him after he let me go.
